5 Pertamina International Refinery CSR Programs Receive Communitas Award 2023 in the United States

Dallas, USA, July 11, 2023 - As a member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), PT Pertamina International Refinery (KPI) supports the efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. Thanks to this commitment, 5 KPI’s CSR programs have successfully won awards at the Communitas Awards in Corporate Social Responsibilities & Community Service 2023 in the United States.

One of the award-winning programs is the RAWABENING Program by Pertamina Unit V Refinery in Balikpapan. RAWABENING is a Rainwater Utilization and Urban Farming program to raise awareness of the environment in Kampung Atas Air, Margasari Village, Balikpapan. This program introduces innovation that utilizes rainwater as a medium for urban farming using hydroponic methods. The program also promotes environmental management and food resilience through renewable energy using solar panels as a substitute for electricity in hydroponic installations.

The RAWABENING Program received the Honoring Excellence award in the Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility category at the Communitas Awards 2023.

In addition to the RAWABENING Program, 4 CSR programs by PT Pertamina International Refinery also received the Honoring Excellence award in Honoring Excellence in Community Service & Corporate Social Responsibilities Communitas Awards 2023. The awards were achieved by:

• Pertamina International Refinery RU II Dumai as "Communitas Winner 2022" for Excellence in Community Service through Peatland Forest Fire Prevention,
• Pertamina International Refinery RU II Sungai Pakning as "Communitas Winner 2023" for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibilities through the Peat Water Treatment Program transforming peat water into clean water using FILAGAM (Peat Water Filtration) facility,
• Pertamina International Refinery RU IV Cilacap as "Communitas Winner 2023" for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibilities through the Kolak Sekancil (Laguna Conservation in Segara Anakan Cilacap area),
• Pertamina International Refinery RU III Plaju as "Communitas Winner 2023" for Excellence in Community Service through the Innovative Food Village program.

In addition to international recognition, the KPI Group also received 9 awards from the Indonesia Social Responsibility Award (ISRA) 2023, including:

• 3 Platinum Awards received by Pertamina International Refinery Unit Kasim for the Education category, Pertamina International Refinery Unit Cilacap for the economic empowerment category, and Pertamina International Refinery Unit Plaju for the Video CSR Documentation category,
• 4 Gold Awards received by Pertamina International Refinery Unit Plaju for economic empowerment category, Pertamina International Refinery Unit Balikpapan for health quality improvement category, Pertamina International Refinery Unit Balongan for climate change mitigation & adaptation category, and Pertamina International Refinery Unit Balikpapan for education category,
• 2 Silver Awards received by Pertamina International Refinery Unit Dumai for the economic empowerment category and Pertamina International Refinery Unit Sungai Pakning for the climate change mitigation & adaptation category.
