Lombok, September 28, 2024 – There is something new at the 2024 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia: the world’s first MotoGP Museum, called the Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery, located in the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit area. The museum was inaugurated on Saturday, September 28, 2024, by the Deputy Minister of SOE, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, Financial Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Emma Sri Martini, and President Director of Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), Ari Respati.
According to the VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, who was present at the museum’s opening ceremony, the Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery showcases Indonesia and Pertamina’s long history of participation in the most prestigious motorcycle racing event.
“This year, Pertamina has the Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery in collaboration with ITDC. The gallery tells the story of MotoGP and Pertamina’s support for motorsports from the 1960s to the present,” Fadjar said.
Fadjar further explained that the museum features MotoGP memorabilia, historical items from racers, and racer posters directly sent by Dorna.
“It is very authentic. Equipment worn by MotoGP racers is there, such as racing suits, racing shoes, and many others sent by Dorna,” Fadjar said.
In addition to supporting MotoGP, the Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery serves as an information and education center for people interested in learning more about Indonesia’s long journey in motorsports.
“For those wanting to know more about how Pertamina has supported motorsports in Indonesia, visit the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit. It is very beneficial for the public, especially Lombok residents. Admission is free,” Fadjar explained.
The Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery consists of two main buildings: the North and South Gallery. The North Gallery displays MotoGP racer memorabilia such as racing suits, helmets, knee and elbow pads, and motorcycle visors. All of these items were supported by Dorna.
At the Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery, visitors can also learn about the culture and biodiversity around the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit. They can even look at behind-the-scenes of the racers’ garages.
Additionally, Pertamina has opened an official store in the gallery, allowing visitors to purchase official MotoGP merchandise.
There are interactive games for children and mini-racing bike replicas from the Pertamina Enduro VR46 team. Lastly, the gallery provides information on Pertamina’s support for motorsports from the 1960s to the present day, emphasizing three key points: boosting Indonesia’s branding, creating a multiplier effect, and generating economic impact.
“In various countries, MotoGP events have economic and multiplier effects, and the same goes for Indonesia. As an SOE, Pertamina supports this international event to provide the community with economic benefits, including MSMEs. Moreover, the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia helps promote Pertamina globally,” Fadjar added.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina’s business lines and operations.**
