February 24, 2022 - The Jawa-1 PLTGU has reached the First Fire milestone on February 23, 2022, for Unit 1 and will soon be followed by Unit 2. The largest gas-fired power plant in Southeast Asia is expected to receive a Commercial Operation Date (COD) this semester.
First Fire is the initial ignition or commonly known as the first ignition unit power block, especially gas turbines using gas. For Jawa-1 PLTGU, the gas supply comes from LNG ex Tangguh Papua which is regasified at the Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) Jawa Satu. After the first fire, the stages are further commissioning, synchronization, performance tests, reliability tests, and COD.
"Alhamdulillah, the first stage of the Unit 1 fire went smoothly. We are optimistic that we can also carry out the other series of stages well. Therefore, we can COD this semester. The existence of the Jawa-1 PLTGU is essential in the energy transition process where gas is environmentally friendly energy and the main bridge to realize the national energy mix as mandated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia," said Corporate Secretary of Pertamina NRE Dicky Septriadi.
By integrating the FSRU with the generating units, Jawa-1 PLTGU becomes the largest integrated PLTGU in Southeast Asia, with two power block units and a total capacity of 1,760 MW. The Jawa-1 PLTGU uses the latest generation of single-shaft combined cycle gas turbine technology, which provides high thermal efficiency reaching the range of 60-65 percent. It generates electricity, which will later be sent to PLN via a 500 KV transmission line to the PLN Substation in Cibatu Baru/Sukatani, Bekasi. The Jawa-1 PLTGU is designed to supply electricity to industrial and household consumers in the Bekasi, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta areas.**
