Jakarta, June 7, 2023 - In 2022, Pertamina did not only record the highest profit and operational performance in its history. As an energy SOE in Indonesia, Pertamina also provided benefits to 45.000 people in the surrounding areas through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.
Nicke Widyawati, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), explained that as SOE, Pertamina has a responsibility to the environment and the community, with the theme of "energizing community sustainability."
According to her, Pertamina is committed to achieving sustainable growth for the company and its employees as well as for society.
Through the TJSL program, Pertamina could reach more than 17,000 mothers and children (Health), 14,000 women-owned MSME (Empowerment), 12,000 heads of families (Social Food), successfully employing up to 4,000 workers, empowering 2,600 farmers and fishermen, more than 500 friends with disabilities, and 1,500 students (Education).
"We must invite the community to achieve sustainable living and economy together," Nicke Widyawati said during the 2022 Performance Achievement Media Briefing at Grha Pertamina, Jakarta, on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
Nicke revealed that in 2022, the TJSL programs, including those contributing to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and priority programs, were successfully implemented.
"The TJSL program was 100% implemented, and we can see three major pillars, namely sustainable environment, sustainable education, and sustainable economy," she explained.
These three TJSL pillars were translated into several programs that impacted various segments of society, such as disabilities, workforce absorption, and the development of Self-Reliant Energy Villages.
"I am very proud of Self-Reliant Energy Village because we encourage communities in villages, especially women, to participate in achieving net-zero emissions. They process waste into energy sources using the available renewable energy in their area," Nicke added.
In 2022, through the TJSL environmental program, Pertamina's Self-Reliant Energy Villages successfully reduced 680.000 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions in one year. In the field of education, scholarships were provided, prioritizing children in 3T regions (Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged areas) and individuals with disabilities. In the economic field, the UMK Academy Desa Wisata and Entrepreneurship were established. Through the TJSL program, Pertamina received 17 international awards and 268 national awards.
"This demonstrates that we do not only focus on our core business, but we also take other aspects seriously with clear targets, programs, budget allocations, and resources that we have committed from the beginning," Nicke concluded.**
