Rokan, March 11, 2023 - PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) is committed to using green energy in the Rokan Working Area (WK), Riau. One of its endeavors is to build a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) that spans 28.2 hectares (Ha) in the housing complex for PHR workers at the Rokan WK. The PLTS construction collaborated with PT Pertamina Power Indonesia as Pertamina's New and Renewable Energy Subholding.
The Corporate Secretary of PHR, Rudi Arifianto, said that PHR supports the government's target in the Paris Agreement to accelerate the transition target and energy mix from New and Renewable Energy by 23% in 2025 and to achieve net-zero emission in 2060 with a medium-term of 29% -41% in 2030. He added the location and geographical conditions of Rokan WK provide a high potential output of photovoltaic power for PLTS installations which are an environmentally friendly source of electricity-producing energy.
"With the abundance of solar power sources in the Rokan Block, it is right for PHR to build a PLTS in the Rokan WK as a form of commitment to utilizing environmentally friendly energy," said Rudi, Wednesday (8/3/2023).
Rudi added that the PLTS was built on land with a total area of 28.2 hectares with a total of 64,000 panels spread across three points of the Rokan WK, namely in the worker housing complex in Rumbai, Duri, and Dumai. "The method used is that the solar energy in the Rokan WK is collected by a PLTS, built with a ground-mounted and rooftop type. Furthermore, the captured energy is then converted through an inverter so that the electrical energy can be utilized at the Rokan WK," explained Rudi.
"We have conducted studies related to the PLTS implementation at Rokan WK, including a study on site selection and studies related to the impact of PLTS penetration on the Rokan WK electrical system stability, as well as a benefit analysis that has been carried out and concluded that it does not interfere with the electricity system at Rokan WK," explained Rudi.
Rudi said the production capacity that the PLTS would produce was 25 MWp with an efficiency potential of USD 4.3 million per year. Moreover, the PLTS also produces 32.42 GWh of energy per year. The PLTS is still in the construction completion stage and is planned to be utilized this year.
“The PLTS that we are building also has an impact on reducing CO2 emissions by 23,000 tons per year and reducing carbon taxes by US$ 48,261 per year, which of course, has an impact on the world," said Rudi.
PHR Rokan WK is part of the Sumatera Regional PHR under the auspices of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) as Pertamina's Upstream Sub holding. Apart from producing oil and gas for the country, PHR manages social and environmental responsibility programs with a focus on education, health, community economy, and the environment.**
