Jakarta, August 15, 2022 – Pertamina Patra Niaga, Subholding Commercial & Trading of PT Pertamina (Persero) appreciates law enforcement officers, namely the Indonesian National Police (Polri), in taking action against subsidized fuel misuse cases.
President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Alfian Nasution, said that the crackdown on subsidized fuel misuse is very important because there is a state budget for this subsidized fuel. "The subsidy budget in 2022 reaches more than 500 trillion. In the subsidized fuel that we distribute, there are state money and the rights of the people entitled to enjoy fuel at affordable prices," added Alfian.
Alfian continued that this subsidized fuel misuse case occurred nationally. Until early August, there were at least 49 subsidized fuel misuse cases throughout 2022 that the police had taken action.
“Pertamina Patra Niaga appreciates and supports the National Police's steps to continue the subsidized fuel misuse cases' disclosure and take action against those who took these actions. This step is the National Police's manifestation in supporting and protecting vulnerable people's rights who should be able to enjoy subsidized fuel," said Alfian.
According to the head of BPH Migas, Erika Retnowati, until May 2022 alone, the volume of subsidized fuel misuse was at least has reached 257,455 liters. Of the total allegedly misappropriated, 231,455 liters were proven to be a volume that met the criminal element.
Of the many subsidized fuel misuse cases, the most common mode is hoarding and smuggling subsidized fuel, buying subsidized fuel in jerry cans without a permit for resale, and selling subsidized fuel to industry players.
“The continued subsidized fuel misuse encourages Pertamina Patra Niaga to coordinate and synergize with various parties, it cannot be done alone. Besides regulations, joint supervision is a means that needs to be done to anticipate the misuse re-occurrence so that subsidized fuel is distributed on target," conveyed Alfian.
