Tanzania, August 22, 2023 - As part of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, official visit series to several African countries, this time in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Pertamina has signed an energy collaboration agreement in the upstream and downstream oil and gas exploration and production field in the region.
In the presence of President Joko Widodo and President of Tanzania Samia Suluhu, the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state-owned company of Tanzania, the Tanzania Petroleum Development Company (TPDC). Pertamina's Upstream Subholding subsidiary, PT Pertamina Internasional Eksplorasi dan Produksi (PIEP) also attended the signing.
This MoU marks the beginning of Pertamina's collaboration in Tanzania to enhance hydrocarbon exploration and the entire crude oil value chain. Both companies will also explore collaboration potential in oil and gas sector in Tanzania, including exploration, production, and gas pipeline projects.
"The strategic energy collaboration between TPDC and Pertamina is a milestone in enhancing the relationship between Tanzania and Indonesia, given that TPDC and Pertamina are state-owned enterprises fully owned by their respective governments," explained Nicke in Tanzania on Tuesday (8/22) local time.
Nicke explained that through the MoU between TPDC and Pertamina, both SOEs agreed to collaborate in the upstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry, including downstream investment opportunities in CNG stations and Mini LNG supply. Additionally, there will be capacity building for TPDC employees to receive training or education in Indonesia.
