Serving Avtur up to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport
Batam, February 16, 2024 – Ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr (Rafi) 2024, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Dumai Unit once again played a role as part of the task force (Satgas) at Pertamina. To ensure the smoothness of the Rafi 2024 Task Force, PT KPI Dumai Unit, with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN) North Sumatra Region, held a coordination meeting in Batam on February 16-17, 2024.
In this coordination meeting, the Executive General Manager of PT PPN North Sumatra Region, Freddy Anwar, emphasized the significant role of the Dumai and Sei Pakning refineries in producing fuel and avtur with a total capacity of 170 thousand barrels per day. The Dumai refinery presence is crucial as it can cover around 18% of the national fuel & avtur needs. The fuel supply from the Dumai refinery is distributed to the Dumai Integrated Terminal using pipelines and to several Fuel Terminals in various provinces in the North Sumatra region, then distributed to the public by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga. Additionally, some avtur is allocated for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. Therefore, coordination among these Pertamina Sub-Holdings is deemed necessary to ensure the availability of auel and avtur.
On the other hand, Senior Manager of Operation & Manufacturing of RU II Dumai, Rudi Hartono, representing the General Manager of RU II Dumai, stated that currently, the Dumai and Sei Pakning refineries are operating at optimum capacity to ensure the availability of fuel and avtur during this Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period. Various efforts have been prepared and implemented by PT KPI Dumai Unit as a form of refinery reliability mitigation to produce fuel and avtur as planned.
This coordination meeting was attended not only by representatives from both companies but also by representatives from PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK) Regional 1, PT Pertamina Lubricants, and several relevant stakeholders. The coordination meeting of these two Pertamina Sub-Holdings discussed steps to ensure the availability of fuel and avtur during this crucial period, where demand usually increases significantly.
Some key points discussed in this coordination meeting include the analysis of data and trends in fuel and avtur demand during the previous Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr periods, the availability of sufficient stocks to fulfill demand considering factors such as increased mobility during holidays, and distribution and logistic strategies to ensure fuel and avtur smooth supply to various points in the North Sumatra region.
Meanwhile, Area Manager of Communication, Relation, and CSR of PT KPI RU II Dumai, Agustiawan, who also attended this coordination meeting, stated that they will continue to coordinate and communicate with relevant parties, including the government and other relevant institutions, to ensure the smooth distribution process and address potential obstacles that may arise. He also emphasized that PT KPI Dumai Unit continues to ensure that storage and distribution infrastructure is in good condition and enhances supervision over storage and distribution processes to prevent unforeseen obstacles.
After a thorough discussion, both parties agreed to take proactive steps to ensure adequate fuel and avtur supply in the North Sumatra region during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr periods. This coordination meeting is considered an important step in ensuring sufficient energy supply for the people of North Sumatra.
"May the reliability and security of the Dumai refinery remain intact so that the Dumai refinery can benefit the people of Indonesia," concluded Agustiawan.**
