Jakarta, April 6, 2024 - PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) ensures that the refinery will continue to operate during the Ramadan & Eid al-Fitr (RAFI) 2024 period to achieve production targets. To ensure this, the Board of Directors of KPI visits all refinery operating units managed by Pertamina.
"To ensure the refinery operates during this year's RAFI period, the Board of Directors of KPI has visited all refinery operating units. The entire Board of KPI shared in visiting all refineries managed by KPI, starting from the Dumai unit in the westernmost part to the Kasim Unit in the easternmost part of Indonesia," said Corporate Secretary of KPI, Hermansyah Y Nasroen. Besides checking operational activities within the refinery, the Board also engaged in social activities of providing aid to the orphans.
Hermansyah explained that the Boards of KPI's visit to these Operating Units aim to directly check the operational conditions of the units in the field. Furthermore, the visits aim to provide moral support to all frontline workers who must continue to work during the RAFI period.
"At each operating unit, the Board of KPI not only discusses with the unit management team but also directly interacts with the frontline workers. Through discussions, the directors receive input regarding matters that require direct support from the Board," Hermansyah clarified.
KPI has also formed a Task Force (Satgas) for RAFI 2024, from the headquarters to the refinery operating units, tasked from March 25 to April 21, 2024. The current optimal capacity in line with this year's RAFI production target is 850 thousand barrels per day from an installed capacity of 920 thousand barrels per day.
"All refineries are currently operating at their production capacities. Only at the Balikpapan Refinery, one of its Crude Distillation Units, CDU IV, with a capacity of 200 thousand barrels per day, is not operational as it is undergoing integration with the new RDMP Balikpapan unit and will increase its capacity to 300 thousand barrels per day. Meanwhile, CDU V, with a capacity of 60 thousand barrels per day, remains operational. The Balikpapan Refinery will become the largest refinery in Indonesia with a capacity of 360 thousand barrels per day by mid-year," Hermansyah explained.
In addition to ensuring refinery readiness, during the RAFI period, KPI also manages its workforce. KPI also prepares fast-moving materials, including chemicals with a durability of over two months and catalysts with a durability of over six months.
It has become a tradition in Indonesia that RAFI is an important moment for people to reunite with their families. In this situation, KPI workers remain committed to their duty to carry out refinery operations.
"Through the RAFI task force, we arrange workers who must work during the RAFI period. Workers included in the RAFI Task Force carry out this as one of Pertamina's commitments to ensure fuel production during the RAFI period meets the target," Hermansyah explained.
Coordination with stakeholders is also carried out by KPI. "We need support from all stakeholders to ensure refinery operations continue safely and smoothly. Hopefully, the public’s activities during the RAFI period can proceed safely, smoothly, and comfortably," Hermansyah hoped.
"KPI maintains crude oil raw material stock durability reaching 25 days. From our records, up to March, gasoil production has reached the planned target, while aviation turbine fuel production has reached 7% above the target, and even gasoline production could reach 8% above the target," Hermansyah added.
