Commemorating International Women's Day, Pertamina Empowers Women's MSMEs at the DhawaFest Pesona 2023
Jakarta, March 9, 2023 - As a form of appreciation to women, especially MSME actors, in which women are one of the keys to accelerating economic recovery. PT Pertamina (Persero) invites its fostered MSMEs to the DhawaFest Pesona 2023 event at the Dhanapala building, Ministry of Finance Complex, Central Jakarta, on March 8-10, 2023.
With the title MSME Recovering and Rising Stronger, Dhawafest Pesona 2023 is back after three years of hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It is the 10th time since this activity was first held in 2010. 250 booths were present at the Dhawafest exhibition. 95% of them are MSME actors fostered by the Ministry of Finance unit, fostered by SOEs, and Government, and private agencies.
Through this activity, Pertamina also received appreciation as one of the DhawaFest Pesona 2023 partners, which was handed over directly by the Head of the Ministry of Finance’s DWP, Wati Heru Pambudi, to VP of CSR & SMEPP of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman.
"Pertamina is committed to supporting the Indonesian people's economy, especially women's MSMEs. Pertamina hopes to improve people's welfare and women's MSME products' quality. Thus, they can compete in an increasingly competitive market, as well as provide even greater benefits for the Indonesian people," said Fajriyah amid her visit to Pertamina's MSME booth.
Astrid Lucky Al Firman, chairman of the DhawaFest Pesona 2023 committee, said that the DhawaFest event was a form of the Ministry of Finance DWP's concern in supporting the Government's program to revive MSME actors. "At DhawaFest this time, we carry the tagline MSME Recover and Rise Stronger. It is appropriate to make DhawaFest Pesona 2023 a medium to revive MSME actors affected by the Covid-19 pandemic," she said.
With the spirit to continue developing and supporting Indonesian MSMEs, DhawaFest Pesona 2023 presents the work of artists, artisans, and the disabled, as well as displays MSME products that use environmentally friendly materials.
At the DhawaFest Pesona 2023 event this time, Pertamina empowers women MSMEs by presenting a variety of local products that are ready to be showcased, including Rumah Kebaya Vielga, a modern kebaya product that develops embroidered cloth from Simalanggang Village, Payakumbuh, West Sumatera. Monalisa Collection, which produces handicrafts made from burlap sacks, is a business engaged in fashion, craft, and accessories.
Moreover, Oniecraft is here to showcase Indonesian handicraft products, with the main material being silver 925 filigrees, designed to be an attractive product variant. Meeta Fauzan and Luck-U Sewing House are Muslim clothing brands, headscarves, and mukenas with their trademarks, as well as Rumah Kayu Bordir, which has developed manual embroidery with traditional motifs typical of East Priangan, Tasikmalaya.
N. Rosita, Owner of the Monalisa Collection, said she was happy to participate in the exhibition held at the Dhanapala Building, Jakarta. The Monalisa Collection produces crafts made from burlap sacks that elevate local wisdom in the form of bags, shoes, wallets, jars, souvenirs, and mirror knick-knacks covered with burlap sacks which raw materials come from recycled waste, and are combined with patchwork, batik, bamboo and natural stone, but also produces accessories and veils.
“The raw materials are natural, made from environmentally friendly tree fibers. And the rest of the unused raw materials are used to make accessories that are combined with patchwork. Thus, nothing is wasted," said Rosita.
Through the Partnership Program, Pertamina continues to support MSME product development as done by Pertamina's fostered partners. By upgrading the MSME class, it is hoped that it will create a positive domino effect. Namely, product innovation creation accompanied by an increase in the human resources quality and the employment opportunities opening to increase economic growth.
The Pertamina-fostered MSMEs' participation in DhawaFest Pesona 2023 is expected to increase public interest in MSME products. Therefore, they can increase market potential where MSME products can be enjoyed by all levels of society, including the younger generation, to encourage the MSME actors' creativity in their work. It is also Pertamina's form of concern with partners in supporting environmental preservation by producing and using environmentally friendly materials.
The fostered MSMEs' involvement in DhawaFest Pesona 2023 is one of Pertamina's supports as an SOE in achieving SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Especially point 12. Namely, Responsible Consumption and Production, and point 8 related to providing employment and economic growth, as well as implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-based programs in all Pertamina operational areas.
