Ngawi, July 4, 2024 – Pelita Air (flight code IP), a medium-service airline, has demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability by planting 10,000 trees in the Pertamina UGM Forest, Ngawi, East Java. The event, Sustainability for Tomorrow, is a collaboration between Pelita Air, PT Pertamina (Persero), and the Pertamina Foundation, all committed to environmental preservation by reducing carbon footprints.
Corporate Secretary of Pelita Air, Agdya Yogandari, stated that the 10,000 trees planted by Pelita Air are estimated to absorb approximately 150 tons of carbon dioxide annually, effectively reducing carbon emissions.
"Commitment to environmental sustainability is one of the pillars of our business. As part of our company's mission, we emphasize environmental responsibility. Therefore, in all our business activities, we strive to consider environmental aspects, including corporate social responsibility activities," said Agdya Yogandari.
The 10,000 trees planting aims to reduce carbon emissions while providing continuous benefits for air quality improvement, soil stability, and water balance. We hope this step will have a long-term positive impact on the surrounding environment," Agdya added.
The trees planted include kepuh, nyamplung, cashew, jackfruit, and eucalyptus. Besides environmental benefits, these plants are expected to benefit the local community's economy. The activity involved residents, known as local heroes, in the planting and maintenance process, thus enhancing their skills and knowledge.
The tree planting event was attended by Commercial Director of Pelita Air, Asa Perkasa, SVP Strategy & Investment of PT Pertamina (Persero), Henricus Herwin, PT Pertamina (Persero) VP CSR & SMEPP Management Fajriyah Usman, Director of Foundation Finance of Pertamina, Tito Rahmat Hidayat, Head of Environmental Agency of Ngawi Regency, Taufiq Agus Susanto, Government representatives of Ngawi Regency, and the Faculty of Forestry from Gadjah Mada University.

Conducting Green Flights on the Jakarta-Surabaya-Jakarta Route
On the same day, Pelita Air also operated green flights on the Jakarta-Surabaya-Jakarta route (IP202 and IP207). This sustainable flight initiative underscores Pelita Air's commitment to environmental stewardship and the future of our planet.
"We are conducting sustainable flights to reduce emissions, making this flight more eco-friendly by purchasing carbon credits that can offset 12 tons of CO² emissions for this flight. We have taken various steps to ensure this flight is greener and more sustainable," Agdya said.
