Jakarta, July 6, 2022 – PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional successfully manages CSR programs in an effective and measurable manner while giving positive impact on society and business development, encourages participation, generates learning for all stakeholders, and has an inclusive and sustainable program aligned with Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs).
One of PT KPI's featured CSR programs is the Desa Mandiri Energi program fostered by the Cilacap Refinery. The Desa Mandiri Energi Program in Bondan Village, Ujung Alang Village, has provided many benefits for remote rural communities in gaining access to electricity with a Hybrid Power Plant (PLTH).
The PLTH has a 16,200 WP (Watt Peak) capacity provide electric lighting for 78 families. In addition to lighting, PLTH is also used to operate a desalination device for brackish water into fresh water and meet the clean water needs of residents and several MSME production houses on the coast. The PLTH optimization can make the underdeveloped village save an average of 76% clean water expenses per household per month.
In addition, the Cilacap Refinery is also implementing a Mangrove Conservation program in Ujung Alang Village, which is now the research location and has ten certified mangrove seedlings. The program implementation sustainably and supports SDGs, which has led the program to win The Best Community Development and Platinum Champion in Corporate Social Responsibility in the 2022 Bisnis Indonesia Corporate Social Responsibility Award (BISRA).
In this event, PT KPI won The Best Community Development/Empowerment Program for the BUMN Category, and three other Platinum, Gold, and Silver Champion awards in the Corporate Social Responsibility Program, in the 2022 Bisnis Indonesia Corporate Social Responsibility Award (BISRA) event.
The Gold Champion in Corporate Social Responsibility Award was won by the Klayas Mandiri program, which is an integrated program in several fields, such as clean water management, maternal and toddler health, education, and independence, assisted by the Kasim Refinery.
The Silver Champion in Corporate Social Responsibility Award was given for the fishers’ community empowerment program in Tanjung Palas Village or Minapolitan Village. This program encourages fishery-based economic institutions, the formation of cooperatives, and the development of marine product derivatives fostered by the Dumai refinery.
Acting Corporate Secretary of PT KPI, Milla Suciyani, stated that the appreciation had encouraged PT KPI to implement community social responsibility programs sustainably aligned with the SDGs and support the company's ESG achievement. "One of the Energy Independent Village programs is part of the support for achieving ESG, namely the company's involvement in providing a positive impact for the surrounding community, through increasing access to community-based energy," she explained.
Following the theme Social Responsibility to Accelerate Stronger Recovery, the BISRA Jury saw the company's commitment to implementing the CSR program from the aspects of community empowerment, disaster management, and social and volunteerism.
The jury, which was made up of the editors of the Indonesian Business Daily, Bappenas, and Humanity Indonesia, emphasized that the evaluations given to several CSR programs had demonstrated the company's assistance to vulnerable communities during the Covid-19 pandemic, supported government initiatives by achieving SDGs, and motivated and promoted Good CSR as a Good Business to the business community to aid the government in creating a prosperous Indonesia.**
