Jakarta, June 9, 2023 - Dani Arwanto has been awarded the Kalpataru Award in the Environmental Pioneer category for his contributions to preserving and conserving the environment and forests of Indonesia. Dani has become an environmental hero through urban farming activities, successfully addressing social, cultural, and environmental issues in the metropolitan area, which is geographically vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
Dani is one of the sponsored cadres which actively serves as the chairman of the TJSL/CSR Production Unit Jakarta program of PT Pertamina Lubricants, known as Kampung Iklim GH Cemara 001 Tugu Utara.
The Kalpataru Awards 2023 were presented directly by the Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya Bakar, at the Manggala Wanabakti Building, Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Jakarta, on Monday (6/5/2022).
Siti Nurbaya stated that the recipients of the Kalpataru Award are environmental and forestry champions. This award is also a mandate for the recipients to continue to preserve and enhance leadership, as well as various efforts to preserve and manage the environment and forests.
After the award ceremony, all recipients of the Kalpataru Award 2023, along with the members of the Kalpataru Award Advisory Board, Dr. Imam B. Prasodjo, and the Director of Environmental Partnerships at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Jo Kumala Dewi, visited RW 001 Tugu Utara to directly observe environmental improvements and development activities, such as green alleys, grape cultivation, hydroponics, maggot cultivation, ornamental fish, consumable fish, and waste banks.
Imam B. Prasodjo evaluated that the success of the environmental changes in RW 001 Tugu Utara has been well utilized by Dani Arwanto and all its residents through collaboration between the community, government, and private sector, particularly PT Pertamina Lubricants. He hopes that Dani Arwanto will continue to inspire future environmental change movements.
Dody Arief Aditya, the Manager of the Jakarta Production Unit, stated, "Congratulations to Dani for being selected as the recipient of the Kalpataru Award. Hopefully, this will further enhance the spirit of synergy and collaboration with Pertamina Lubricants to continue working and contributing to the 20,000 locations target of the Climate Village Program (ProKlim) in 2024, as initiated by the government."
