Jakarta, May 30, 2024 - PT Pertamina (Persero) received two awards for best corporate emission reduction transparency in 2024 in the Green Elite category and best corporate emission calculation transparency in 2024 in the Platinum Plus category, according to InvestorTrust in Jakarta on May 29, 2024.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that following Pertamina's commitment as a leading company in energy transition and supporting Net Zero Emission (NZE), Pertamina successfully recorded a carbon emission reduction performance of up to 8.5 million tons of CO2, or 34% of emissions, by 2023.
"There was a 9.6% increase in emission reduction achievement from 2022. This performance follows Pertamina's program to address the energy trilemma through three strategic initiatives," explained Fadjar during the award ceremony in Jakarta.
The three comprehensive strategic initiatives include scope 1 for decarbonizing company operations, scope 2 for building new low-carbon businesses, and scope 3 for carbon balancing programs.
"The implementation of the main Oil and Gas business through green operations has led Pertamina to achieve its carbon emission reduction targets in scopes 1 and 2 while managing sustainability," Fadjar said.
According to him, these three steps are part of Pertamina's support for national energy security, prioritizing energy availability, building energy infrastructure, ensuring public access to energy, and maintaining environmental sustainability and sustainable energy resource management.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
