ELNUSA Signs Mou with Khan Co., Ltd in Korea-Indonesia Offshore Congress 2023
Jakarta, March 21, 2023 - PT Elnusa Tbk (Elnusa) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Khan Co., Ltd. (KHAN) for cooperation and collaboration in decommissioning, commissioning, offshore hook-up and carry-over (HUC), Pipe Laying Construction, and O& M/P&M.
The signing was carried out by the President Director of Elnusa, John Hisar Simamora, with the CEO of Khan, Jang-Hwan Hyun, and witnessed directly by the Korean Ministry of Maritime Affairs, the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Maritime & Investment Affairs, the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, and SKK Migas on March 14, 2023.
Meanwhile, the Director of Business Development of Elnusa, Ratih Esti Prihatini, who was also present at the occasion, responded to the signing of this MoU as a promising opportunity in the future for business sustainability. "This MoU signing is an industrial collaboration between the Indonesian government delegation and the Korean government. We see that this prospect will be large for Elnusa business development opportunity and as one form of Elnusa's role in supporting government programs," said Ratih.
Ratih added, "Through Khan Co. Corporation, Ltd. presence, it is also expected to build collaboration in creating sustainable economic benefits of the platform that is not operating and certainly becomes a business opportunity for Elnusa in the future."
As reported on the SKK Migas page, an offshore platform that currently operates in many Indonesian oceans totaling 635 units, consisting of 512 units of the platform, will stop operating along with the reduced oil and gas reserves due to production. Therefore, with the platform inactivity, efforts are needed to restore the operating environment to the initial conditions following the safety aspects of facilities and the environment.
Most platform distribution is around West Java, Jakarta and Banten, and Lampung, which reached around 339 platforms, followed by the Makassar Strait, which amounted to 193 platforms. From the KKKS side, the most is PHE ONWJ which reached 73 platforms, then EMP Gebang of 14 platforms, and PHE OSES of 11 platforms.
Khan has experience in carrying out the offshore platform decommissioning project on the Attaka-EB offshore platform in 2022. Khan implemented eco-friendly decommissioning high-tech such as 3D-Scanning, 3D-Modelling, 4D-Digital Simulation, and many more. It is expected to increase effectiveness and efficiency in further decommissioning activity.
Present at the signing of the MoU was the Director of the Khan Overseas Business Team, Jinwoo Park, who estimated that the MoU with Elnusa would be useful for Khan and Elnusa. "Khan is now speeding up the process of opening its office in Indonesia. Through this MoU, Khan estimates to carry out successful projects with Elnusa in all fields of offshore work.
