Pertamina Sahabat Nelayan is a coastal community empowerment program consisting of boat engine training and mentoring for pioneering fishers workshops.
PTPL provides program assistance by providing working capital assistance such as compressors, toolkits, lubricant packages, and other workshop equipment; lubricants product knowledge socialization specifically for ship engines; and providing sales and entrepreneurial insights. Therefore, later, fishers' workshops can be managed optimally.
In 2021, this program has also been implemented in the Central Maluku Regency. Moreover, PTPL has also empowered fishing communities in the Cilacap and Banyuwangi Fishermen Associations.
The Head of Ambon Fisheries Training and Extension Center Abubakar S.Pi., M.Si said, "We are very grateful to PT Pertamina Lubricants for trusting us to once again work together in providing this ship machinery training. It is hoped with this training, the basic knowledge for fishers regarding ship engine repair following the procedures can be increased."
La Jainudin, the Cooperative Secretary also said, "We hope the cooperation between the PTPL cooperative can help develop the fishers' capabilities in repairing boat engines previously obtained from their lesson. We also hope that this program in the future can improve their mental health, as well as fishers' entrepreneurial spirit through fisherman workshops."
In line with La Jainudin, Representative of Sales Region Manager VII, I Zuhdy Pratama, expressed his deepest gratitude to the fishers who have accepted PTPL's presence and welcomed this program.
"The Pertamina Sahabat Nelayan program is here not only to encourage Indonesian fishers' independence but also hoped to create a multiplier effect that has a positive impact on all communities around the coast," he said.**
