Finding New Oil and Gas Reserves, SKK Migas - PHR Disseminates Seismic Plan
Pekanbaru, August 11, 2022 – In addition to increasing production in the Rokan Working Area (WK), PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) Cooperation Contract Contractor (KKKS) has continued to actively seek out additional oil and gas sources in the Riau Province. This strategic step is part of an effort to support national energy security, regional welfare, and the surrounding community through increasing economic benefits from the presence of upstream oil and gas activities.
To find new oil and gas reserves, the PHR KKKS will carry out a 3-Dimensional (3D) seismic survey in South Petapahan Field, Rokan WK starting November 2022 and Lapangan Hitam in March 2023. The socialization of the activity plan was delivered at a meeting with Forkopimda ranks and Kampar community leaders during an event in Bangkinang on Thursday (4/8). This activity was attended by Acting Kampar Regent, Dr. H. Kamsol, M.M., Head of Representative of SKK Migas Sumbagut, Rikky Rahmat Firdaus, Head of Riau Energy and Mineral Resources Department, represented by staff for Energy & New Renewable Energy, Baharufahmi, S.T., Dandim 0313 Kampar represented by Danramil 16/Tapung, Captain Arm Alza Septendi, Kapolres Kampar represented by Kapolsek Mines, Iptu Jurfredi, S.H., and Manager of Corporate Affairs Asset South PHR at WK Rokan Wan Dedi Yudhistira.
"In addition to supporting the fulfillment of national energy needs, this seismic survey would potentially improve the regional economy and create new jobs," said Wan Dedi Yudhistira. "This activity also aims to make the blessings of oil and gas in Riau continue to flow through sustainable production with the discovery of new reserves."
Seismic at South Petapahan Field, located in the Kampar Regency area, covers an area of 127 Km2 across three sub-districts --Tapung, Tapung Hulu, Tapung Hilir-- and six villages. Meanwhile, Lapangan Hitam covers an area of 101 Km2, crossing two sub-districts and three villages, most in the Rokan Hulu (Rohul) District and less than one percent in the Kampar area.
The seismic activity in the two fields is part of the WK Rokan Definite Work Commitment (KKP) program to the government through SKK Migas. "The search for new oil and gas reserves supports the government's efforts to achieve 1 million barrels of oil per day and gas of 12 billion standard cubic feet per day by 2030," said Head of Representative of SKK Migas for Northern Sumatra (Sumbagut), Rikky Rahmat Firdaus. "SKK Migas and KKKS PHR express their appreciation for the support from the Kampar Regional Government and hope for prayers and support from all stakeholders so that seismic activities at the Rokan WK run safely and smoothly," he continued.
Acting Kampar Regent, Dr. Kamsol, M.M., supports this seismic survey activity plan. "Let us work together to support activities that benefit the regional economy. Thus, the oil production target of one million barrels per day in 2030 can be achieved," said Dr. Kamsol.
The Acting Kampar Regent hopes this survey can find oil and gas reserves. Thus, providing benefits and welfare for the people of Kampar Regency. Socialization and licensing activities are the initial stages of seismic survey activities. The next stage is topographic survey and track preparation, initial data collection, drilling and pre-loading, recording, final data collection, and track cleaning.
