Semarang, January 1, 2023 - Rain with high intensity and lasted quite a long time, from Friday afternoon (30/12) until ahead of New Year's Eve on Saturday (31/12), caused flooding in several areas of Semarang.
Responding to this situation, Pertamina distributed Bright Gas assistance and logistics of groceries to the main post at Semarang City Hall in stages on Saturday night (31/12) and Sunday morning (1/1). This assistance was received directly by the Head of the Semarang City Service, Heroe Soekendar.
Area Manager of Communication, Relations, & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the Central Java Region of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Brasto Galih Nugroho, said that this was Pertamina's concern and response to disasters for the community around the operating area of Semarang, especially those affected by floods.
"Based on the information we received and the coordination we have carried out with the Semarang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) team, the affected sub-districts have set up flood posts or public kitchens in their respective locations. Therefore, logistical assistance distribution will be carried out centrally from the City Hall,” he said.
Brasto said the assistance distributed by Pertamina included LPG Bright Gas cylinders, cooking oil, rice, eggs, instant noodles, sugar, and other similar staples.
"We hope that the assistance we provide can assist the government in alleviating and recovering the people affected by the floods' condition, especially on this New Year's Eve," added Brasto.
While receiving the aid, Heroe expressed his appreciation for Pertamina's concern.
"We thank Pertamina for the assistance provided. It will help the Semarang City government in recovering people's condition from the flood disaster that occurred," he said.**
