Forming the Rafi Task Force, Pertamina Ensures the Security of Fuel & LPG Supply

Balikpapan, April 2, 2023 - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan ensures that the safety of fuel & LPG consumption in the Kalimantan region ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1444 H celebration.

"In overseeing the fuel & LPG smooth distribution, Pertamina formed a Task Force (Satgas) from April 1 to May 2, 2023, at Regional offices and all fuel and LPG supply points across the Kalimantan region," said the Executive General Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan, M Taufiq Setyawan.

At the 2023 RAFI Task Force, Pertamina will monitor the fuel and LPG supplies stock and distribution in the Kalimantan Regional operational areas, including in the Provinces of East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan.

This year it is estimated that there will be an increase in the gasoline-type fuels consumption up to 7.6%, gasoil up to 1.5%, and LPG up to 4.6% from the daily average in the Kalimantan region. For the Province of East Kalimantan, the estimated increase in gasoline-type fuels will reach 10.4%, gasoil by 1.2%, and LPG consumption by 5.2%.

As an anticipatory measure against the spike in fuel consumption during the RAFI Task Force, Pertamina undertakes the following things.

  1. Increasing the gasoline stock:
    a. Pertalite is 8.10 percent of daily consumption or around 6,561 KL/day to 7,092 KL/day in the Kalimantan region. For East Kalimantan, the increase in Pertalite stock was 10.41 percent from the daily consumption, or around 1,784 KL/day to 1,970 KL/day.
    b. Pertamax is 4.2 percent of daily consumption or around 890 KL/day to 927 KL/day in the Kalimantan region. For East Kalimantan, the increase in Pertamax stock is 10.3 percent from daily consumption, or around 221 KL/day to 244 KL/day.
    c. Pertamax Turbo is 2.5 percent of daily consumption or around 25 KL/day to 25.7 KL/day in the Kalimantan region. For East Kalimantan, the increase in Pertamax Turbo stock is 5.2 percent from daily consumption, or around 10.3 KL/day to 10.8 KL/day.
  2. Increasing Gasoil :
    a. Solar is 1.5 percent of daily consumption or around 2,689 KL/day to 2,730 KL/day in the Kalimantan region. For East Kalimantan, the increase in diesel fuel stock is 1.5 percent from daily consumption, or around 632 KL/day to 641 KL/day.
    b. Dexlite is 1.2 percent of daily consumption or around 439 KL/day to 444 KL/day in the Kalimantan region. Meanwhile, the East Kalimantan Dexlite supply did not increase, it was still distributed at 150.7 KL/day
    c. Pertamina Dex is 2.1 percent of daily consumption or around 45 KL/day to 45.9 KL/day in the Kalimantan region. For East Kalimantan, the estimated Pertamina Dex consumption tends to increase by close to one percent from daily consumption or around 15.1 KL/day to 15.2 KL/day.

Additionally, Pertamina has prepared 114 petrol stations on busy routes and tourist routes spread across 19 petrol stations in East Kalimantan, 46 petrol stations in West Kalimantan, 15 petrol stations in Central Kalimantan, three petrol stations in North Kalimantan and 31 petrol stations in South Kalimantan. All the standby petrol stations will operate for 24 hours, and stock build-up was done seven days before.

LPG Needs Fulfillment Preparation

The increase in household LPG needs in the 2022 Rafi Task Force has been anticipated by increasing stocks by 4.6 percent from the daily average or daily consumption of 1,708 Metric Tonnes (569,333 Tubes) to 1,788 Metric Tons (596,000 Tubes) for the Kalimantan region.

The addition of 3 kg LPG distribution has been carried out since the 1st week of April, with an additional daily supply for the Kalimantan region by 5.4 percent from the previous distribution of 1,410 Metric Tons (470,000 Tubes) to 1,486 Metric Tons (495,333 Tubes). For the East Kalimantan region, the increase in supply was 6.4 percent, from 373 Metric Tonnes (124,333 Tubes) to 397 Metric Tonnes (132,333 Tubes).

In addition to distribution, Pertamina is also preparing agents and standby bases to meet the people's LPG needs. 343 LPG agents and 1,122 outlets/bases have been alerted throughout Kalimantan.

Support from Government Agencies and Apparatuses is needed to expedite fuel distribution. Pertamina is coordinating with the police regarding security measures for fuel distribution, especially at points that could cause congestion. Not only the police, Pertamina coordinates with DLLJAR and the Geology Agency to anticipate obstacles to areas prone to congestion and landslides, road repairs, exit/entry areas for Petrol Terminal locations, and perception banks to expedite financial processes, especially during holidays.
