West Manggarai, May 9, 2023 - Through its community empowerment programs, Pertamina participated in the ASEAN Summit 2023 in West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province.
Pertamina showcased Pertamina Tourism Villages’ profile through the SME's HUB ASEAN Summit Rumah BUMN exhibition at Waterfront, Labuan Bajo, initiated by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, which took place from May 9 to 11th, 2023.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, revealed that the Pertamina Tourism Village program, which consists of 13 villages, has provided many benefits in terms of economic, social, and environmental aspects. The communities can produce more than 900 recycled crafts products sold every year, rent out 794 homestays for tourists, operate 30 culinary businesses, and 30 souvenir crafting entrepreneurs. " 5,500 residents have been proven capable of advancing their respective village areas and generating economic independence of up to IDR 600 million per location," said Fadjar.
Among the 13 Pertamina Tourism Village locations are Nglanggeran Pertamina Tourism Village in Yogyakarta, Kolak Sekancil Pertamina Tourism Village in Cilacap Central Java, Wonopotro Ecoedutourism Pertamina Tourism Village in Boyolali Central Java, Permata Hijau Pertamina Tourism Village in Bengkalis Riau, Wringinputih Pertamina Tourism Village in Borobudur Magelang, Karangredjo Pertamina Tourism Village in Borobudur Magelang, Koto Mesjid Pertamina Tourism Village in Riau, Kampung Kreasi Sidokumpul Pertamina Tourism Village in Gresik East Java, Larep Pertamina Tourism Village in Semarang Regency Central Java, Labuhan Madura in East Java, Cinta Bumi Tanggap Api Pertamina Tourism Village in Jambi Merang, Kebun Raya Bogor in West Java, and Puntang Pertamina Tourism Village in Bandung Regency West Java.
As part of its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) in the environmental and economic pillars, Pertamina encourages upskilling and community-based sustainable tourism management capacity building.
"In terms of the environment, the tourism villages can reduce 4.7 tons of waste per year through the Waste Bank, 4,500 trees on the ground utilizing a modern concept, 15 bio pores for water absorption, and optimizing and maximizing small 300-meter land for agriculture," added Fadjar.
In this ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, Pertamina showcased the Tourism Villages and introduced Pertamina's MSME partner from the Lombok Timur Rumah BUMN in the craft and food and beverage industries to be promoted in the exhibition.
Pertamina is committed in contributing to ASEAN's goals achievement, particularly in the recovery, rebuilding, and sustainability pillars. "As one of the Indonesian state-owned enterprises and energy companies, Pertamina supports and contributes to achieving ASEAN's goals and making ASEAN a center of regional and global economic growth," stated Fadjar.
President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, also emphasized that as a national energy company, Pertamina will continue to contribute to achieving ASEAN 2023 goals and priorities. Moreover, as the chair, Indonesia focuses on enhancing the ASEAN’s image as a strategic region that plays a significant role in the world’s economy.
