Jakarta, September 28, 2022 - Assigned to distribute energy to the community, Pertamina Patra Niaga, Subholding Commercial & Trading of PT Pertamina (Persero) has at least 7 (seven) Quality Control processes as a step to ensure all products fulfill the specifications and the predetermined standards.
Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Irto Ginting, stated that the Quality Control process starts when the fuel enters the storage tank at the Fuel Terminal (TBBM) until right before it is distributed to the petrol station.
“The quality control process for a fuel product before it can be declared eligible for distribution to petrol stations starts from when the product is supplied from refineries or imports, during storage, until before being distributed to petrol stations. In each process, the fuel product must be declared feasible and meet the requirements or standard specifications determined by the Director General of Oil and Gas. If the sample test is not feasible, it will not be able to exit the fuel Terminal," explained Irto.
Before fuel products can enter storage tanks at the Fuel Terminal, Pertamina first ensures that fuel products supplied from refineries or imports have a certificate of quality. After confirming the certificate of quality, the fuel products supplied by the pipeline will be tested for specs during pumping to the storage tank.
The supply process through ships also went through testing. Before being pumped into the stockpile tank, the fuel product in the vessel will be tested for feasibility first. If it follows the specifications, the test is also carried out during fuel pumping from the ship to the stockpile tank.
“This is an early stage. Before a fuel product can enter the storage tank, there are already several Quality Control processes to ensure that the products supplied to the Fuel Terminal follow specifications and standards for sale to the community," continued Irto.
During in storage tanks, the Quality Control process is also carried out periodically. Fuel products are periodically tested right after the pumping process, either from refinery or imported pipes, until before being distributed to tank trucks. Before the tank truck can leave the Fuel Terminal and go to its destinated petrol station, the fuel product will be tested again at the exit.
“It can be seen that the Quality Control process is not arbitrary, it is carried out periodically, and the stages are clear. It is Pertamina Patra Niaga's commitment to ensure all fuel products consumed by the public follow specifications, according to quality standards, and are suitable for use," he added.
In addition to quality testing at the Fuel Terminal, Pertamina Patra Niaga also conducts testing before the unloading fuel process from the tank truck until after all fuel products have been channeled to the petrol station containment tank.
"At the petrol station there is also a check, if something is deemed not according to specifications, the fuel product will be sampled again at the Fuel Terminal, it will not be sold, so people do not have to worry. Pertamina is committed that all fuel products sold at its official distributors follow the established standards," said Irto.
