Lombok, March 27, 2023 - PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) has successfully carried out salvage or rescue activities to the MT Kristin Ship, which is now docking at the PT Pantai Damai Sejahtera (PDS) pier, West Lombok.
"Thanks to the collaboration between PIS, Pelindo, and Pertamina Trans Kontinental, the MT Kristin ship was able to dock this afternoon at the PDS dock for further processing by the authorities," said Director of Operations of PIS, Brilian Perdana, who was at the location to inspect the incident handling process on the MT Kristin ship.
Brilian explained that PIS is ready to cooperate with the authorities for the investigative process and other processes needed to thoroughly investigate the fire incident's cause on the MT Kristin ship.
The MT Kristin ship is owned by PT Hanlyn Jaya Mandiri, chartered by PIS to transport Pertalite fuel to the Ampenan Integrated Terminal and the Sanggar Fuel Terminal.
In this case, PIS' position is as the ship's charterer, whereas in the lease or charter agreement PIS always emphasizes the ship owner to prioritize HSSE aspects in operations related to the crew and the ship's cargo safety.
"PIS ensures that every ship owner who has a business relationship with PIS is fully responsible for any risks and incidents that could impact the ship's crew and ship's cargo safety following the agreed terms," Brilian continued.
PIS is coordinating closely with Basarnas, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia (KLHK), KSOP, and others for further management processes, including anticipation of an oil spill from the incident.
PIS is ready to coordinate and cooperate quickly and responsively with all authorities and authorities for further investigations regarding the MT Kristin ship incident and future countermeasures.**
