Jakarta, September 6, 2024 – President Joko Widodo emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing climate change and implementing energy transition efforts. The President invited all parties to join these initiatives, hoping that the IISF forum would become a platform for sharing knowledge, experience, and resources to tackle global climate challenges collaboratively.
"Indonesia is very open to partnering with anyone to maximize the potential for a greener world, to provide equitable access to green energy, and to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth," said the President during the opening of the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum 2024 on Thursday (5/9) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Senayan, Jakarta.
In line with this, Pertamina, an energy company, continues to develop initiatives supporting the government's efforts to tackle climate change. As proof of its commitment to achieving net zero emissions, Pertamina signed three agreements at the IISF 2024 event as part of the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum 2024.
"The signings demonstrate Pertamina's commitment to facing climate change. As the President stated, collaboration is the key to addressing the challenges of climate change and the energy transition," said the VP of Corporate Communication, Fadjar Djoko Santoso.
The agreements include a Joint Study Agreement (JSA) between Pertamina, Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), and the Korea Maritime & Ocean University Consortium (KMOUC). Additionally, there is a synergy between Pertamina and Pupuk Indonesia as a form of state-owned enterprise (SOE) collaboration in a joint study on the development potential of CCS/CCUS.
The Pertamina Group with POSCO INTERNATIONAL also entered into a JSA on the Feasibility Study on Carbon Capture, Transportation, and Storage, with the Offshore ONWJ block serving as a carbon storage facility.
"Pertamina fully supports the government's efforts to achieve Net Zero Emissions through several cooperation agreements on studies for developing CCS/CCUS technology, not only with foreign companies but also by enhancing synergy among state-owned enterprises," Fadjar added.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations. **
