Wayame, Jayapura, Dumai, December 7, 2022 - To realize a more efficient energy distribution process and ensure more guaranteed energy security, Pertamina Patra Niaga, Subholding Commercial & Trading of PT Pertamina (Persero) has completed construction and is ready to operate three new LPG Terminals. The three new LPG terminals were built following international technical and safety standards and will serve LPG needs in Wayame, Jayapura, and Dumai.
"With this new LPG Terminal operation, Pertamina Patra Niaga hopes that energy security in the area will be more maintained and we can fulfill the community's energy needs. This is Pertamina Patra Niaga's role in ensuring the Availability, Accessibility, and Affordability of energy in all regions in Indonesia," explained the President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Alfian Nasution (6/12).
Alfian continued that this new LPG Terminal construction and operation is part of Pertamina Patra Niaga's commitment in carrying out assignments regarding fuel and LPG storage tanks construction and operation in Indonesia, even LPG Terminals development in Eastern Indonesia is included in the National Strategic Project (PSN).
As one of the National Strategic Projects, the Wayame and Jayapura LPG Terminals that will serve LPG needs in Maluku and Papua were built with a capacity of 2 x 1,000 Metric Tonnes (MT) each. The Dumai LPG Terminal was built with a capacity of 2 x 3,000 MT.
"So the Wayame and Jayapura LPG Terminals are prepared to secure LPG supply in the Eastern Indonesia region. The Dumai LPG Terminal's aim is to increase supply reliability to fulfill LPG needs which are currently around 910 MT per day. In general, this is strengthening Pertamina Patra Niaga's energy distribution chain throughout the country," explained Alfian.
In addition to strengthening supply reliability, the three new LPG Terminals' presence also has a positive impact on LPG distribution operational efficiency in the region by increasing supporting facilities and amenities' capacity and completeness for the LPG Terminal itself, such as the berth wharf.
"The Wayame LPG Terminal and the Jayapura LPG Terminal presence has changed LPG's overall distribution pattern, where previously LPG cylinders were sent directly from Surabaya, now they are sent via ships with large capacities to secure stocks in the area. Then with the increase in ship berthing capacity at the Dumai LPG Terminal, shipments can be made all at once, and this will affect shipping costs," Alfian highlighted.
LPG distribution chain supply and efficiency reliability that is presented through this new LPG Terminal also continues to consider and pay attention to safety, health, and occupational health aspects in its operations.
"During the construction period until now starting to operate, the three LPG Terminals have recorded at least more than 2.5 million safe working hours. It shows Pertamina Patra Niaga's commitment, to ensure that the LPG Terminal operates safely and with a high level of safety. We hope that this LPG Terminal can strengthen national energy security, operate safely, and guarantee easy access to energy for the community," Alfian stated.**
