Karawang, March 23, 2024 - The Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Zulkifli Hasan, accompanied by the Regional Marketing Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Mars Ega Legowo, sealed the dispenser of 34.41345 petrol station at Jakarta - Cikampek Toll Road Rest Area KM 42, Wanasari, Telukjambe Barat, Karawang, West Java.
This sealing is a follow-up to the field checks conducted by officers of the Directorate of Metrology of the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia in preparation for the 2024 Ramadan & Eid al-Fitr Task Force (RAFI), where additional equipment in the form of switches/jumpers was suspected to be found on three petrol station dispensers.
Zulkifli stated that the security measure involving the sealing of one of the petrol stations on the homecoming route in the Karawang Regency is based on observation results, which allegedly indicated suspected criminal offenses in the field of Legal Metrology as regulated by Law No. 2 of 1981 concerning Legal Metrology.
"Through this security measure, further monitoring, observation, research, and/or examination (Wasmatlitrik) activities will be carried out to determine whether the alleged criminal offenses have indeed occurred," explained Zulkifli.
"It is suspected that additional equipment in the form of switches/jumpers has been installed on the fuel dispensers at this petrol station, which can affect the measurement results or the amount of fuel received, resulting in losses to the public/consumers, with an estimated potential loss of two billion rupiahs per year," he continued.
The Regional Marketing Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Mars Ega Legowo Putra, stated that before this, Pertamina Patra Niaga had also issued First and Final Warning Letters and immediate instructions to replace the three dispensers with new ones ready for operation within a maximum of two weeks from the issuance of the Sanction Letter from Pertamina Patra Niaga to the petrol station.
"Pertamina appreciates the action taken by the Directorate of Metrology of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia and is committed to enhancing petrol station supervision and will always provide the best service to the public, especially during the RAFI 2024 period," said Mars Ega.
Furthermore, Mars Ega conveyed that based on today's activities, the security of petrol stations on the homecoming route and rest areas will be further enhanced to ensure that petrol station services comply with regulations, are of the right quality, and the correct quantity.
These petrol station dispensers’ sealing does not affect fuel availability for the public in the Karawang area. Pertamina Patra Niaga guarantees smooth distribution and fuel stock availability for the entire community, especially in the Karawang and surrounding areas.
