Depok, May 24, 2023 - Through Pertamina Foundation, PT Pertamina (Persero) invites the younger generation to become sociopreneurs. It was embodied by the Indonesian Social Leaders Expo (ISLE) 2023 event held at the Makara Art Center, University of Indonesia, Depok (23/05). The event marked the PFmuda social project innovation competition kick-off, inaugurated by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, the Vice-Rector of the University of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA, and the Corporate Secretary of Pertamina, Brahmantya Satyamurti Poerwadi.
The PFmuda competition is a platform for young people to showcase their social project ideas to address social issues. From 2020 to 2022, PFmuda received enthusiastic participation from 6,596 applicants, among whom 104 were selected as young leaders and received funding support for their social projects. This year, the PFmuda 2023 competition is themed "Empowering Independent and Sustainable Social Entrepreneurship among Youth," with a focus on issues in the energy, environment, and economic empowerment sectors.
PFmuda provides support in form of funding stimulus, training in social project management and social business development, coaching, mentoring, networking within the Pertamina Group, and external partnerships.
"On behalf of the University of Indonesia, I express my gratitude and pride in being the gathering place for sharing ideas, experiences, and knowledge. Today's event is a collaborative effort between Pertamina through the Pertamina Foundation, the University of Indonesia, academia, practitioners, and communities involved in building an empowered, inclusive, and sustainable society. We are open to further sustainable collaborations with PT Pertamina (Persero) to fulfill the Tri Dharma of Higher Education," said Prof. Dedi.
The Minister of Youth and Sports appreciates the PFmuda competition presence as it aligns with the government's vision and mission, especially regarding youth empowerment.
"I am proud to inaugurate Pertamina's PFmuda competition kick-off, which follows Law Number 40 of 2009 and Indonesia's vision of Emas 2045, where Indonesian youth are invited to be agents of change. Agents who can address various issues and develop entrepreneurship, care for the environment and society, create job opportunities, and contribute to science and technology development," stated Dito.
"Currently, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has the tagline of ‘Olah raga, Olah rasa, and Olah karya.' Through this new tagline, it is expected that the ministry can embrace all aspects needed by young people, from physical, mental, and spiritual development to optimizing creativity. I see this competition as being in line with the current vision and mission of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which focuses not only on sports but also on young entrepreneurship. We hope to collaborate with Pertamina," added Dito.
ISLE 2023 is organized as part of Pertamina's Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility in supporting the commitments of Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and sustainability policies.
"This event started with Trembesi trees planting as carbon absorbers, followed by the PFmuda social project competition inauguration, MoUs signing, and a tour of 15 sociopreneur exhibitions supported by PFmuda. Today's series of activities reflects Pertamina's commitment to achieving ESG and fulfilling the SDGs, specifically SDG 13 on climate action, SDG 1 on no poverty, SDG 4 on quality education, and SDG 8 on decent work and economic growth. It is hoped that through competitions like PFmuda, ESG, and SDGs can be grounded in the wider community, motivating them to energize the community, bring prosperity to society, and preserve the environment," expressed Corporate Secretary of Pertamina, Brahmantya Satyamurti Poerwadi.
To enhance the community benefits through collaboration, Pertamina Foundation also signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). The first is with the University of Indonesia concerning the Pertamina UI Forest and Nihil Stunting Village. The second is related to the Crowdfunding Social Project PFmuda with KitaBisa.com.
"This year, Pertamina (Persero)'s CSR through Pertamina Foundation is expanding its benefits for the community. The MoU signing with UI is a step towards addressing climate change and emphasizing sustainability. With KitaBisa, we hope to further develop social projects through crowdfunding. We provide the complete package of PFmuda so that the younger generation can become sustainable solutions and bring a better life to others," concluded Agus, the President Director of Pertamina Foundation.
