Majalengka, March 8, 2024 - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Erick Thohir, accompanied by President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, inaugurated the Pertamina Generasi Muda Arena (GGM) in Majalengka. The multipurpose building at Jalan Raya K H Abdul Halim No.146, Majalengka, officially commenced operations on Friday, March 8, 2024.
Present at the inauguration were Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin, President Director of PT Pembangunan Perumahan (Persero) Tbk Novel Arsyad, Head of the West Java High Prosecutor's Office Ade Tajudin Sutiawarman, and Acting Regent of Majalengka Dedi Supandi.
The Minister of SOE, Erick Thohir, praised the GGM as one of the best multipurpose buildings in Indonesia located in Majalengka, West Java. It is fittingly established in an area that has produced national figures with outstanding achievements.
"It signifies Majalengka’s tremendous potential. Therefore, ensure leadership for the future. How do we ensure that this facility is maintained and can serve as a place for education, not only physically but also spiritually," said Erick in his speech in Majalengka on Friday (08/03/2024).
Erick emphasized that the GGM could be utilized for various sports events, education, and cultural festivals. It could also serve as a discussion venue.
"This is a strategic location, close to the toll road and the airport. Even earlier, the Governor wanted to develop the Kertajati area as a tourist destination in West Java. Because when economic development is easier to build tourism, its impact is strongly felt. We ensure that economic growth continues in Majalengka and West Java," said Erick.
President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, stated that the Pertamina GGM construction in Majalengka is Pertamina's commitment to promoting the development of Indonesia's young generation in facing the future.
"The Pertamina GGM in Majalengka is built with complete facilities prepared for the community, especially Majalengka’s young generation, including athletes and MSME players who are the backbone of the economy," said Nicke.
Nicke added that the Pertamina GGM in Majalengka began construction on July 14, 2023, on a land area of 2,053 square meters (m2) with a building area of 3,761 m2.
Pertamina has built various facilities in this building with 800 seats for general spectators, 50 VIP seats, and six seats for disabilities.
"The Pertamina GGM in Majalengka has become home to high-achieving athletes in Majalengka. This new building is expected to encourage the improvement of athletes' achievements both nationally and internationally," added Nicke.
Various sports facilities built, include futsal fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts, sepak takraw courts, badminton courts, silat fields, and wall climbing facilities. The building is also equipped with changing rooms, multifunction halls, coach and official rooms, referee rooms, and medical rooms.
In addition to inaugurating this building, Pertamina held a People's MSME Bazaar in the outdoor area featuring Pertamina-fostered MSMEs and MSMEs assisted by the Majalengka Regency Government.
There were also interactive sportacular games booths, Majalengka mask dance arts entertainment, local bands, volleyball matches between high schools in Majalengka Regency, and friendly volleyball matches between Pertamina Jakarta Fastron Volleyball Team and Majalengka Regency Volleyball Team.
