May 31, 2024 - Noor Arifin Mohammad, Director of Oil and Gas Technical and Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), stated that safety aspects in the oil and gas industry are important and must be prioritized by all industry players.
"All safety aspects must be implemented from the research stage, through operation, to monitoring. We must always check, recheck, and continuously monitor," he said during a management walkthrough at the Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF) in Semarang, Central Java, on Friday (31/5).
Noor mentioned that in the operational activities of the oil and gas industry, mitigation must be prepared for certain unavoidable situations. Additionally, the oil and gas industry is strict with safety standards.
One notable oil and gas project that has implemented good safety standards is the ORF gas receiving facility. "We are grateful and proud; we saw earlier that the ORF Cirebon - Semarang (Cisem) I is running well," he emphasized.
On the same occasion, Gamal Imam Santoso, President Director of Pertamina Gas, stated that Pertamina Gas, as the operator of the Cisem gas pipeline phase I, has been adhering to established operational standards.
"As an operator, we must follow the guidelines related to safety and security as per the prevailing regulations," he said.
Furthermore, Gamal explained that Pertamina Gas is now ready to distribute gas to end users, noting that a few days ago, the Jambaran Tiung Biru gas field completed 100% commissioning, allowing full-capacity gas production of 192 million MMSCFD.
He hopes this management walkthrough visit will aid gas distribution operations to the public and industry. "We are ready to receive input to provide better service in operations, ensuring technical operations run well and as we hope for in the future," he concluded.**
