Lampung, September 21, 2022 - The Kelompok Ecobrick Kabarti, assisted by Pertamina Integrated Terminal Panjang, provided training on waste usage through eco-bricks for partners assisted by Pertamina Integrated Terminal Palembang in Class II A Women's Prison in Palembang City and Semambu Village.
The training activity on waste usage through eco-bricks at the Class II A Women's Prison in Palembang City was intended for female inmates that was also attended by the Head of the Class II A Women's Prison in Palembang City. Meanwhile, in Semambu Village, the training on waste usage through eco-bricks was intended for the PKK Group and Kelompok Bank Sampah, attended by village and sub-district government representatives.
Ecobrick itself is a technique for processing plastic waste into useful objects. Eco-bricks are a practical and inexpensive solution to reduce plastic waste by putting plastic waste into plastic bottles and then compacting it.
Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR of South Sumatera, Tjahyo Nikho Indrawan, said this training was a form of knowledge transfer between partners in the South Sumatera operational area. It is hoped that this training could help overcome environmental problems and generate benefits for the fostered partners.
"Hopefully, waste problems can be utilized, one of which is through eco-bricks, which can reduce the negative impact of the waste and improve the economy for those who use it," Nikho said.
Through the training, Nurachmad, a representative of the Ecobrick Workshop Group, explained how eco-bricks were used as a medium for processing waste in the Kampung Baru Tiga, Panjang Utara District, Bandar Lampung City. Eco-bricks can be used as the foundation for making multi-purpose items such as tables, chairs, trash cans, flower pots, and other artistic items. The training also includes practice making simple eco-bricks from plastic waste.
Nurachmad said that this activity is a means to learn waste management from each other.
"Hopefully, with this training in the future, we can work together in processing plastic waste into products that have use value and selling value," said Nurachmad.
The training on waste usage through eco-bricks was accepted by Pertamina Integrated Terminal Palembang partners who were present. One of them is the head of the PKK in Semambu Village, Mrs. Painun.
"We hope this training will benefit us and increase creativity in processing waste, especially for PKK Semambu Village and the Waste Bank Group," Painun said.
Waste is still one of the biggest environmental problems, especially in Indonesia. Various attempts have been made to formulate effective waste management methods to prevent it from polluting the environment.
Waste processing through eco-bricks is one of the waste processing formulas that help overcome environmental problems while providing economic value through the ecobrick derivative products.**
