Jakarta, June 9, 2024 - PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) has successfully obtained the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC). The AEO, or Certified Economic Operator, is an economic operator recognized by DJBC, thus receiving certain customs privileges. AEO is an implementation of the Safe Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade (SAFE FoS), initiated by the World Customs Organization (WCO) in collaboration with its members, including Indonesia.
"This AEO certificate represents the government's trust, through the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, in KPI as a company responsible for maintaining energy security in Indonesia," said the President Director of KPI, Taufik Aditiyawarman.
According to Taufik, the trust gained by KPI will significantly support its operational smoothness, especially in managing oil flow. "The smooth supply chain of crude oil imports, spare part project materials, and refinery product exports greatly impacts the national fuel supply security. Therefore, the KPI and Customs cooperation is strengthened to ensure the national energy supply remains well-maintained," Taufik stated.
Taufik elaborated that the certification acquisition journey spanned about eight months, involving rigorous procedures. Throughout this period, KPI received invaluable support and guidance from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise
"KPI's effort to maintain its credibility and company value through participation in the AEO certification involved a series of transparent and accountable certification processes. Throughout the assistance and guidance process, KPI received much constructive feedback on aspects, such as procedure completeness, refinery security enhancements, and the security of trade partners contracting with KPI," Taufik explained.
The AEO certificate obtained by KPI is the first to an SOE subsidiary and the first within the first sub-holding of the Pertamina Group.
Taufik acknowledged that KPI's operational continuity is also heavily influenced by the support from stakeholders, including Customs and Excise.
"It is imperative to build a strong partnership between KPI and Customs. Therefore, through a series of audiences and consultations with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, the Authorized Economic Operator partnership program emerged as the primary recommendation for KPI to gain benefits in the customs process for KPI's import and export cargo. Hopefully, this cooperation will become even closer and significantly benefit the country and society," Taufik concluded.
