Balikpapan, May 25, 2024 - The firefighting team successfully managed the incident at CDU IV Balikpapan Refinery at 07.30 WITA. Currently, the team is cooling the affected area to prevent flames from resurgence.
The Balikpapan Refinery firefighting team, supported by eight fire trucks, was deployed to handle the incident. The static fire suppression systems around the location were also activated to assist in extinguishing the fire and isolating heat sources. The team is ensuring there are no remaining heat sources in the area to maintain safety. "Thank God, the firefighting team has managed to control the situation, and cooling efforts are ongoing," said Bayu Arafat, General Manager of Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Balikpapan Unit.
The incident location is still within the refinery area, thus there is no direct impact on the community. Nevertheless, we are ensuring that this incident does not affect the surrounding community. "Additionally, we are monitoring fuel production to ensure that the supply remains uninterrupted," Bayu added. Bayu also confirmed that there were no casualties from this incident.
