Yogyakarta, December 17, 2023 - Joglo Ayu Tenan, one of PT Pertamina (Persero) fostered MSME, received a visit from the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of Indonesia's Mass Media. The globally acclaimed creative products of Joglo Ayu have played a significant role for Pertamina in supporting the community's economy through micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) development.
It was conveyed by the Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, during the Editor-in-Chief Gathering in Yogyakarta on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
The EIC's visit to Joglo Ayu Tenan was part of a series of events within Pertamina's Editor-in-Chief Gathering initiative. During this event, approximately 40 EICs from national mass media in Indonesia received explanations from Pertamina's sub-holding and its subsidiaries regarding the Pertamina Group's business, discussed the latest energy developments, and engaged in interactive discussions. Visits were also made to several Pertamina-supported MSME products, primarily in the Yogyakarta and Central Java regions, to witness Pertamina's contributions to the community.
"From the Editor-in-Chief Gathering, Pertamina gained valuable insights. As a result, we hope Pertamina can further contribute to advancing industries, supporting communities, sustainability aspects to aid the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target, and boosting Indonesia's economy," he explained.
One of the activities included a visit to Pertamina's fostered MSME, Joglo Ayu Tenan, an MSME that evolved into a globally recognized enterprise.
Vice President of CSR & SMEPP of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, who also attended the event, added that Joglo Ayu's products are diverse, ranging from handicrafts to captivating fashion, all utilizing natural materials like eco-print, stones, and environmentally friendly materials. These products have been exported to Tokyo, Australia, and Singapore.
"Joglo Ayu Tenan is truly worthy of global recognition. We support our fostered partners from go modern, go digital, go online, and go global, enabling Joglo Ayu Tenan to engage in exports. We hope Joglo Ayu continues innovating to maintain consistency and progress," she added.
These MSMEs also focus on social aspects by collaborating with local artisans and MSMEs, empowering communities of people with disabilities and housewives through creative craftsmanship training. This initiative has been developed in nine adopted villages in the Yogyakarta region.
In line with Pertamina's vision to become a sustainable company, Joglo Ayu Tenan's activities contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as No Poverty (SDG 1), Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Gender Equality (SDG 5), and Climate Action (SDG 13) through its nature-based and eco-friendly products.
The owner of Joglo Ayu Tenan, Rahayu, expressed numerous positive experiences since becoming Pertamina’s fostered MSME, noting a drastic increase in revenue.

Apart from the Editor-in-Chief's visit to MSMEs, their presence in Yogyakarta was also to participate in the Anugerah Jurnalistik Pertamina Night 2023, held on Friday, December 15. This annual event serves as the main journalistic work competition among media personnel throughout Indonesia, which this year, Pertamina obtained 2,559 submissions for evaluation.
