Balikpapan, October 12, 2022 - The young generation is an important group managed by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises. It can be seen from the series of activities during the Ministry of SOEs visit in Balikpapan City. In addition to the Pasar Rakyat activity, the Ministry of SOEs with Pertamina held a gen z talent activation activity at SMA Negeri 5 Balikpapan (Friday, 07/10). The day before, a meeting was also held with millennial BUMN workers throughout the city of Balikpapan at the Banua Patra Building.
The activity at SMA 5 Balikpapan took the theme "Building a Stunting-Free Digital Generation". The activity aims to provide opportunities for students to hone their talents and potential by utilizing digitalization. Digitalization is predicted to encourage young talent's growth and development from Balikpapan. The activity was also held in collaboration with Telkomsel, Phapros, Kimia Farma, and Biofarma.
"Generation Z is a new hope for this country to stay ahead in global competition that is increasingly fierce in the future," said Special Staff III to the Minister of SOEs, Arya Sinulingga. For this reason, according to Arya, students starting from junior high and high school must be digitally literate.
"Absorb information that supports self-potential advancement and apply it in school and daily activities to be an excellent person," Arya said.
Apart from that, Arya also explained how SOEs are an inseparable part of daily life activities.
"Our lives depend heavily on SOEs. For instance, Pertamina controls the fuel or LPG supply to ensure proper distribution. Other examples include Telkomsel, which guarantees a strong signal, or Kimia Farma, which ensure drugs supply is not interfered. It demonstrates how important the large BUMN in our lives," Arya said.
The activity held at SMA Negeri 5 Balikpapan aims to tell Generation Z students to be wiser in social media. Another reason is to provide education on the importance of maintaining health by consuming nutritious foods and the right vitamins.
The day before, a forum for millennial BUMN workers in Balikpapan was also held. In the activity with the BUMN millennial workers, Arya invited millennial workers to be ready to compete globally while prioritizing the AKHLAK foundation as a guide for every BUMN employee.
"SOE millennials must become agile and achievers by utilizing the digital world," Arya said. Therefore, Arya invites all millennial workers to be wiser in using social media, which is not only for seeking information but also providing positive information to create the right branding for the community while elevating the company's image.
"This SOE millennial is a creative generation that can adapt to the technological disruption era. The current SOE also provides a very large space for millennials and the younger generation of Indonesia to develop and become young leaders," Arya explained.
In line with this, VP of CSR & SMEPP Management PT Pertamina (Persero), Fajriyah Usman, said that millennial workers would be the company's foundation in the future.
"Millennials are important to always maintain self-actualization because to become millennial leaders in SOEs requires a generation with global competitiveness but also good at collaborating and taking advantage of the digitalization era," Fajriyah concluded.**
