Jakarta, August 21, 2022 - Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) commitment to implementing New Renewable Energy (NRE) in the Java Subholding Upstream Region Zone 5 breaks the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) record, on Thursday (11 /08). Two award certificates were successfully achieved, including the First Offshore Platform to Operate Wholly Using Solar Energy and the record for Oil and Gas Production Facilities and Most Solar Energy Panel Installations.
Among them is the AVSA platform. There are 20 solar panel units to meet the electricity need on this platform, with a total power generated of 8.2 kWp. Currently, the AVSA platform uses 100 percent of energy from the sun's heat and operates without using fossil energy. For this consistency, PHE ONWJ was asked to be the first offshore platform to operate entirely using solar energy.
PHE ONWJ obtained the second record through NRE Program by utilizing 864 solar panels at oil and gas production facilities in the ONWJ Block in the North Offshore West Java Province and DKI Jakarta. As for the details, 844 solar panels were installed in offshore production facilities and 20 solar panels on land, which have been installed since 1971. For this success, PHE ONWJ received the MURI award for the Most Oil and Gas Production Facilities and Solar Energy Panels Installation.
General Manager of ONWJ, Achmad Agus Miftakhurrohman, said that this PHE is PHE ONWJ's commitment to supporting government programs related to New Renewable Energy (NRE) implementation. "Hopefully, this effort can continue to improve in the future," he hoped.
Meanwhile, the Director of PHE ONWJ, Wisnu Hindadari, expressed his appreciation for this achievement. He hopes it can increase the Pertamina officer's motivation to carry out the mandate from the government, including meeting oil and gas production targets. “Thanks to solid teamwork, PHE ONWJ could record good performance and even exceed the target. From January to July 2022, PHE ONWJ's oil production realization reached 27,591 Barrel Oil Per Day (BOPD) or 116%, and natural gas production was around 78.1 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) or reached 105%. We are committed to providing the best contribution to support the energy security realization as well as the energy transition by prioritizing renewable energy sources and carbon technology," he said.
Since 2011, the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) have collaborated in building NRE infrastructure as part of the government's efforts to make the energy transition in Indonesia. One of the programs that have been carried out is the energy-efficient solar lamps.
Indonesia is pushing the New Renewable Energy (NRE) mix by 23 percent in 2025. It was conveyed by the Director of State Wealth Policy Formulation of the Ministry of Finance, Encep Sudarwan, through the Ministry of Finance website last July. According to him, this energy transition is expected to reduce fossil energy use and use more renewable energy. This energy transition policy has become a global concern as a solution to the climate change issue through the widespread use of clean energy.**
