Cilacap, June 25, 2024 – The blood donation social service has become a routine agenda for PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) RU IV Cilacap every three months. Collaborating with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Cilacap Regency, this event consistently draws enthusiastic participation from thousands of blood donors.
Recently, the Health Function of Cilacap Refinery, the organizer of the blood donation drive, has always prepared free basic food packages like the recent event held at the Patra Graha building within the Cilacap Refinery Head Office complex.
Despite the blood donation schedule starting at 8:00 AM WIB, donors such as employees, partners, and the general public had already lined up at the Patra Graha building area by 6:30 AM WIB.
Dr. Bernard L. Tobing, Section Head of Health at Cilacap Refinery, stated that the blood donation initiative collaborates with PMI Cilacap to fulfill blood stock availability. “We have established an MoU with PMI to conduct this blood donation regularly every three months. Thank you to all participants who willingly donate their blood,” he explained.
He added that the basic food package reward to donors is a token of the company's appreciation for all participants. “We also use this opportunity to share basic food packages. Hopefully, they can be utilized to the fullest,” Bernard added.
Out of 1,012 registered blood donors, 925 blood bags were collected. “This means 87 registrants could not donate blood due to certain conditions based on the initial screening. We hope the health of all blood donors remains good, and we can meet again at the next blood donation event,” Bernard said.
Susanawati, a resident of Tambakreja Village, expressed her high appreciation to Cilacap Refinery for organizing what she called a very creative blood donation event. “Thank you very much. Now, we can regularly donate blood at a location closer to home and go home with grocery packages. It is delightful,” she said.
Separately, Cecep Supriyatna, Area Manager of Communication, Relations & CSR of the Cilacap Refinery, expressed full support for the routine blood donation activities. “It is extraordinary; the blood donation drive has remained sustainable with an overwhelming number of participants. Hopefully, it will be a good deed for all of us,” he said.
According to Cecep, the consistency of the blood donation social service also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially the third and seventeenth goals. “The third goal is good health and well-being, and the seventeenth is partnerships to achieve the goal,” he added.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, stated that Pertamina appreciates every Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program carried out by PT KPI.
“The TJSL program greatly assists the community around the operational areas, fostering a close relationship between Pertamina and the community,” Fadjar said.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
