PT Pertamina (Persero) strengthens its commitment to supporting the Social Forestry Program by signing 13 Cooperation Agreements with various Social Forestry Business Groups (KUPS) within the Pertamina Group area in Bali, Sunday (08/09/2024).

Pertamina Accelerates Support for Social Forestry with 13 New Cooperation Agreements

Bali, September 10, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero) has strengthened its commitment to supporting the Social Forestry Program by signing 13 Cooperation Agreements (PKS) with various Social Forestry Business Groups (KUPS) across Indonesia. This signing is part of the "Rimba Nusa Social Forestry Synergy" event in Bali, marking a tangible step by Pertamina in assisting communities around forest areas.

Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina (Persero), Brahmantya S. Poerwadi, stated that through this cooperation, Pertamina will assist 13 KUPS in developing productive businesses within social forest areas. These KUPS have already started producing value-added products such as forest honey and agro-tourism services.

"This signing is part of Pertamina's efforts to support the local economy through sustainable forest management. We hope this collaboration will help improve community welfare while preserving the environment," Brahmantya said.

At the event, the Director General of Social Forestry and Environmental Partnerships of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Dr. Ir. Mahfudz, M.P., emphasized that this collaboration is not only about social responsibility but also a joint effort to create market access and enlarge economic opportunities for communities. "We hope that social forestry groups can utilize this partnership to enhance their business capacity," Mahfudz said.

Similarly, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that the synergy between Pertamina and KUPS is expected to have a lasting positive impact on forest communities and the environment. This initiative supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in terms of community welfare and land ecosystems. "Through various environmental social responsibility efforts, Pertamina strives to contribute to driving the economy. We hope that Pertamina’s role will support the sustainable development goals in Indonesia," Fadjar explained.
