Pertamina Boosts Regional Economy Through F1 Powerboat Grand Prix

Jakarta, March 2, 2024 - Pertamina supports the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia World Championship Formula 1 Powerboat (F1H2O) international event held in Balige, North Sumatra on March 2-3, 2024. Apart from advancing water sports and national tourism, this event is also expected to create a multiplier effect on the regional economy.

The Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, expressed his pride in supporting the international event held at Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) Lake Toba, precisely in Balige, North Sumatra. "This is the second year Pertamina has supported the F1 Powerboat event. Pertamina's support follows our commitment to the national tourism and sports sectors to become more global," said Fadjar.

Fadjar added that to support the smooth running of this event, Pertamina also ensures high-quality energy availability with the highest quality fuels: Pertamax Turbo, Pertamax, Pertamina Dex, and Avtur.

Pertamina provides 30,000 liters of Pertamax Turbo Ron 98 stock used by the racers to power their watercraft. "The Pertamax Turbo’s quality fulfills world racing standards, making it suitable to use in various international events," he added.

Fadjar explained that Pertamina also provides a stock of 8,000 liters of Pertamax and 100 liters of Pertamina Dex to support Basarnas in carrying out tasks to secure the F1 Powerboat event on water and land. As for the air support, Pertamina provides a stock of 9,400 liters of Avtur for helicopters tasked with monitoring this event.

Fadjar added that as an international event, F1 Powerboat attracts tourists from both domestic and international markets. Therefore, this event is expected to boost the regional economy, particularly through the multiplier effect on trading activities. Pertamina also collaborates with four of its Small, Micro, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to market their superior products, such as Tanaya Dominic Patisserie, Birna Coffee, Zack Kress Chips, and Tenun Ulos Sakkamedeha.

"In addition to supporting the event and fuel availability, Pertamina also prepares quality products from MSME partners around the event location. It is an effort for MSMEs to expand their market overseas," Fadjar added.

The MSMEs booths are located at the Toba UKM Expo 2024 Exhibition held around Lake Toba to liven up the F1 Powerboat event. In addition to Pertamina's partner MSMEs, there were 60 SMEs, government institutions, SOEs, and private entities.
