Jakarta, March 16, 2023 - After the incident at the Plumpang Fuel Terminal (TBBM), PT Pertamina (Persero) conveyed the importance of a buffer zone (safe zone) existence in the company's strategic facilities to ensure residents' safety. It was conveyed directly by the President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, at a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VII DPR RI, Thursday (16/03) in Jakarta.
Nicke said that Plumpang TBBM is one of the national vital objects, the backbone of fuel supply resilience in several areas, "Plumpang TBBM supplies fuel to 790 petrol stations in 19 cities/regencies. This location contributes 15% to the national fuel supply," she said.
The role of Plumpang TBBM was immense. Nicke further explained that this facility could not be closed immediately because it would affect national security. Therefore, the buffer zone's existence is a must, considering that Pertamina's operating facilities still have the potential for danger.
"With buffer zone's existence, it will help maintain people around the Plumpang TBBM area's safety," explained Nicke.
This Pertamina's efforts got support from the Commission VII DPR RI. In today's RDP conclusion, Commission VII asked Pertamina to strictly and consistently implement a buffer zone to maintain the work's and residents' safety.
"Thank you for all the support provided to immediately build a buffer zone," said Nicke.**
