Palembang, August 24, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero) continues to expand its education program on renewable energy technology innovations within schools. The program, titled Sekolah Energi Berdikari (SEB), initiated by Pertamina in June 2023, has provided education to over 4,500 students in various cities across Indonesia.
Ten schools have already become part of the SEB program, including SMK Negeri 2 Dumai, SMA Negeri 14 Palembang (Sumatra), SMA Negeri 40 North Jakarta, SMK Merdeka Bandung, SMA Negeri 3 Cilacap, SMP Negeri 7 Cirebon, SMA Negeri 14 Semarang (Java), SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar (Bali), SMP Negeri 1 Tidore (Maluku), and SMA Negeri 6 Sorong (Papua).
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that Pertamina is committed to accelerating the transition to clean energy by educating young people, who comprise the largest demographic of the population today.
"Educating students on renewable energy technology is expected to speed up the energy transition while instilling environmental awareness. Therefore, they can actively contribute to reducing carbon emissions," said Fadjar.
As part of the SEB program, Pertamina visited Adiwiyata School SMA Negeri 14 Palembang on Thursday (22/8). Pertamina provided education and presented the Innovation Technology Module to 24 students selected as Young Energy Ambassadors at SMA Negeri 14 Palembang.
The Innovation Technology Module was delivered by Pertamina's team, followed by a Renewable Energy Technology Innovation Group Discussion.
The Area Manager of Communication, Relations & CSR of Pertamina Patra Niaga South Sumatra Region, Tjahyo Nikho Indrawan, explained that the purpose of this presentation was to provide knowledge on how renewable energy can be developed into technology innovations with broader benefits and how they can be implemented in their schools.
"It is hoped that the students of SMA Negeri 14 Palembang can implement all the programs they have designed, and these could become best practices for their peers in daily life," said Nikho.
At the same event, Rasya Eka Putra, a student at SMA Negeri 14 Palembang, expressed that the program offered many benefits, increasing their knowledge and shaping character and skills that would be useful in the future.
"This program has been very beneficial for us. Hopefully, in the future, our school can continue collaborating with Pertamina and generate innovations in renewable energy," said Rasya.
Moreover, Pertamina fully supports schools and young generations' involvement in environmental sustainability and education on renewable energy utilization, encouraging the younger generation to make a significant impact on the environment for a greener future.
Nikho further explained that the renewable energy implementation through Pertamina's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program via SEB aims to support the Adiwiyata School achievements at SMA Negeri 14 Palembang, as well as to install and guide the renewable energy technology utilization.
"This program also aligns with Pertamina's commitment to implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal No. 4: Quality Education, Goal No. 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, and Goal No. 13: Climate Action," concluded Nikho.**
