Pertamina Energizing Your Action, Encouraging Young Generation to Take Active Role in Sustainability Actions

Jakarta, June 17, 2023 - PT Pertamina (Persero) organized an event titled Pertamina Energizing Your Action on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM WIB at Lippo Mall Kemang, South Jakarta. The event was held to commemorate World Environment Day and to inspire the young generation to actively contribute to creating a sustainable environment. It also reflects Pertamina's commitment to sustainability and energy transition acceleration in Indonesia to address climate change issues and achieve Indonesia's Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060.

Pertamina Energizing Your Action event was attended by prominent figures who enthusiastically shared their views and inspirations on environmental sustainability topics. The attendees included the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, Director-General of Climate Change Control at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Laksmi Dhewanthi, the President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, the Finance Director of Pertamina, Emma Sri Martini, the President Director of Pertamina New & Renewable Energy, Dannif Danusaputro, the Creative Entrepreneur, Putri Tanjung, two actress-activists, Cinta Laura and Dian Sastrowardoyo, the content creator, Raditya Dika, the Figure of Pertamina's Independent Energy Village, Enjang Ramdhani, and the founder of FoodCycle Indonesia, Herman Andryanto.

The event is open to the public and attended by various groups, including high school students, university students, young people, and families. The activities included exciting talk shows, games, social media challenges, beeswax wrap-making workshops, workshops on transforming plastic waste into artistic creations, and music entertainment.

The Pertamina Energizing Your Action event was opened by Erick Thohir, who welcomed and expressed his support for the event. During his speech, Minister of SOE, Erick Thohir, explained the government's commitment, including SOE, to addressing climate change issues. He highlighted Pertamina's efforts in developing renewable energy, such as geothermal and environmentally friendly fuels like biofuels, including the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in the country.

"This is what we hope for. Government intervention and commitment from the public. If we want clean air in Indonesia, what should we do? We commit to using electric motorcycles and cars, comfortable public transportation, and gradually converting to biodiesel," Erick explained.

Regarding environmental issues and climate change, Laksmi Dhewanthi, the Director-General of Climate Change Control at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, emphasized the need for immediate action in climate change control.

"Greetings and appreciation from the Minister of Environment and Forestry for Pertamina's initiative to organize this event. This is our time to implement it. So, in my opinion, this is an opportunity, the right time to take action," Laksmi said.

She also stated that the energy sector is one of the contributors to greenhouse gas reduction, along with the forestry sector. "The energy sector has many initiatives, such as electric vehicles and others. With these actions, by 2030, the energy sector will also reduce its greenhouse gas emissions," added Laksmi.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, stated that the Pertamina Energizing Your Action event aims to educate young generations and the general public regarding the challenges of climate change.

"We want to have discussions with the young generation, share ideas and perspectives on concrete actions to preserve the environment for the future of our planet," Fadjar explained.

Hundreds of active participants attended the talk shows and workshops from morning until evening. The event concluded with a performance by musician Rizky Febian.
