Pertamina Energizing Your Action: Engaging the Youth as Agents of Environmental Change
Jakarta, June 17, 2023 - PT Pertamina (Persero) invites the youth to become agents of environmental change by taking part in sustaining efforts. These actions are encompassed in the Pertamina Energizing Your Action event held today, Saturday (17/6), in Jakarta.
"This event is Pertamina's campaign to enhance understanding and inspire the community, especially the youth, about sustainability issues," explained the President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati.
Nicke revealed that as an energy company driving people's daily lives, Pertamina remains committed to achieving sustainability.
Pertamina's sustainability implementation includes transitional energy development, such as renewable and new energy sources utilization, such as geothermal energy, hydrogen, solar PV, batteries, and other new energy sources. Pertamina is also actively involved in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in its operations, supporting Net Zero Emissions by 2060.
"The sustainability steps we have taken also require real support from the youth and the community. Through the Pertamina Energizing Your Action event, we aim to enhance understanding and inspire the community," added Nicke.
In the talk show session titled "We Are The Forefront of Change," Nicke Widyawati partnered with Putri Tanjung and Dian Sastrowardoyo as influencers among the youth to share their perspectives on the youth’s strategic role in supporting climate change mitigation.
"We will continue to educate and encourage all young people to participate in preserving the environment and saving the planet. If we move together through small actions, what we do today will impact the future. We must act now, starting from ourselves, for a better world," Nicke expressed.
Meanwhile, Putri Tanjung appreciates the organization of this event. According to her, the youth plays a significant role in determining the future quality of life and the environment.
She also commends Pertamina's initiative to provide solar panels to several Adiwiyata Schools in Indonesia. "I am very pleased that Pertamina has many programs focusing on the youth. One of them is educating the youth about climate change and environmentally friendly lifestyles," Putri added.
Furthermore, actress and social activist Dian Sastrowardoyo stated that the effort to save the planet could begin in our daily lives. "We can change our daily lifestyles, and it's interesting to note that it can start from our families or ourselves," Dian concluded.
Pertamina Energizing Your Action offers various exciting experiences for visitors, such as an E-Waste Recycling Hub where visitors can dispose their electronic waste, an art tunnel installation where visitors can experience and learn about the effects of climate change on the Earth, and various aesthetic photo spots for visitors to enjoy taking selfies and group photos.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication at Pertamina, added that the Pertamina Energizing Your Action event aims to educate the youth and the general public about the challenges of climate change.
"We want to have discussions with the youth, share ideas and perspectives on real actions that we can take for the future of the planet," Fadjar explained.
