Washington DC, August 27, 2024 - PT Pertamina (Persero), through its subsidiary, Pertamina New and Renewable Energy, explored strategic cooperation opportunities at the Indonesia-United States Business Forum held at The Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC, United States (US), on Monday, August 26, 2024. The Business Forum was organized to commemorate 75 years of Indonesia-US bilateral relations.
The event was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade of the United States, Marisa Lago, as well as representatives from both the US and Indonesian governments and business leaders from both countries.
The Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that as a state-owned enterprise, Pertamina actively participated in this event organized by the Indonesian Embassy in the United States, as it plays an important role in opening opportunities and driving Pertamina to become a world-class company.
“Pertamina is using this important moment to present the company’s sustainability policies while also opening up investment and cooperation opportunities with global partners, particularly in the new and renewable energy sector,” said Fadjar.
Fadjar added that Pertamina’s sustainability policies are open to being implemented through strong cooperation at both national and global levels.
“Indonesia has the potential for clean energy resources, which can attract international investors. Pertamina continues to convince the international community to support the energy transition program to accelerate the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060,” Fadjar continued.
The CEO of Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (PNRE), John Anis, who served as a panelist at the business forum, stated that PNRE has the mandate to support the Indonesian government in achieving emission reduction targets while also preparing Pertamina for future business opportunities. PNRE also aspires to lead in building the NZE ecosystem in Indonesia.
"PNRE is allocating significant capital expenditure (Capex) for new and renewable energy development. By 2029, PNRE’s Capex will reach USD 6.2 billion," said John Anis.
He added that 63 percent of the Capex will be allocated for solar, wind, and geothermal energy development. The remaining 18 percent will be allocated for low-carbon solutions, including decarbonization, followed by biomass and bioethanol (11 percent) and future business development (6 percent).
“PNRE is committed to growing its business. Therefore, we are open to cooperation with domestic and international partners, including the United States,” said John Anis.
