Jakarta, July 13, 2023 – The Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2023 MotoGP is ready to be held again at the Pertamina Mandalika Street Circuit International on October 13-15, 2023. It was marked by the symbolic handover of the partnership between PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (ITDC) at the Ministry of SOE office in Central Jakarta on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
The Minister of SOE of the Republic of Indonesia, Erick Thohir, emphasized that the Mandalika Special Economic Zone should provide significant benefits to the community.
"Further, let us maximize cooperation between SOE, local governments, and the private sector to continue developing this area. Hopefully, President Joko Widodo's good intentions, the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara’s hard work, and the SOE in developing the Mandalika region will be meaningful, ensuring economic growth in the region," Erick said.
Emma Sri Martini, Chief Financial Officer of PT Pertamina (Persero), explained that the partnership represents Pertamina's support for the MotoGP and Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) events, which are also collaborations between SOEs.
"In this regard, Pertamina strongly supports the MotoGP and ARRC events, especially since these activities are a collaboration between SOEs," Emma said.
In addition to supporting the MotoGP and ARRC races, Emma stated that Pertamina supports economic growth within the Mandalika area through Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in the surrounding communities.
"Pertamina acts as a driver of economic growth through these events, thereby positively impacts the infrastructure development in the Eastern part of Indonesia. That is why Pertamina strongly supports the upcoming MotoGP and ARRC events," Emma explained.
Emma also encouraged Indonesian to support these motorcycle racing events together. "Through this event, Indonesia's name will resonate worldwide as it is an internationally prestigious event. Undoubtedly, it will be a source of pride for Indonesia, especially for SOEs," Emma added.
Similarly, Dony Oskaria, CEO of PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (InJourney), hopes this synergy will have an economic impact of up to IDR 3.5 trillion from the MotoGP 2023.
"Therefore, the second edition of the MotoGP must generate an even greater economic impact. It means that the event must continue to provide significant benefits for Indonesia, especially the island of Lombok. In addition to the economic impact, the Mandalika as a super-priority destination promotion has also increased significantly," Dony said.
Not only the MotoGP race but also the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) Round 5 will be held from August 11 to 13, 2023. The ARRC race will feature many Indonesian racers who will compete and bring honor to Indonesia.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication at Pertamina, added that Pertamina's support for various sports activities aims to motivate the community, especially the younger generation, to be more active in positive fields. "So, it is not just for economic growth but also to encourage the community’s participation, especially the youth, in positive activities such as sports," Fadjar added.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement.
