Jakarta, November 28, 2023 - The Pertamina Group has successfully demonstrated its business continuity management system by obtaining the ISO22301:2019 Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) certificate for four entities within the Pertamina Group. The handover ceremony took place in Jakarta on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
Director of Finance of Pertamina, Emma Sri Martini, mentioned that the four entities are PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), PT Pertamina Power Indonesia (PPI), and PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE). The certificate was presented by Kusuma Wijaya, the Finance Director of the British Standards Institution (BSI), to the Director of Finance of Pertamina, Emma Sri Martini, the Director of Finance of PIS, Diah Kurniawati, the Director of Finance of PPI, Iman Hilmansah, and the Director of Finance of PGE, Nelwin Aldriansyah.
"Today, we just received the ISO22301 certification related to the BCMS or Business Continuity Management System. Four entities have received the certification. Firstly, Pertamina, this holding company, has been re-certified due to the expansion in the certified scale. Secondly, it is the sub-holding of Integrated Marine and Logistics, or PIS. Thirdly, the sub-holding of Power and New Renewable Energy from PPI and its subsidiary from PGE," she stated.
The significant size and numerous risks associated with Pertamina Group's business make this ISO BCMS crucial. Moreover, Pertamina is a state-owned enterprise providing energy services to the community, hence having mitigation plans and readiness for unforeseen events.
"Pertamina has a large business with high risks. Therefore, every service line provided to the public service must be equipped with BCMS. In case of an incident, energy services must remain available. The most crucial aspect is the implementation, requiring commitment not only from top executives but also from all Pertamina officers. Thus, this needs to become a culture, a habit, and requires champions to disseminate the energy that this BCMS culture needs to be ingrained in every Pertamina officer," she explained.
She hopes that following this certification, Pertamina can implement, regularly monitor, evaluate, conduct audits by internal audit functions, and make improvements.
"Continuous improvement is the key phrase. BCMS must already be ingrained in the DNA of every Pertamina officer," she added.
Director of Finance of PGE, Nelwin Aldriansyah, mentioned that before obtaining this certification, Pertamina Group internally prepared for various emergencies, such as COVID-19, and other disruptions in business.
"Undoubtedly, our preparedness with this certification is further enhanced with the standards set by the BSI. However, it is not enough with the current certification; we will continually improve and adapt various business practices for the sustainability of PGE as part of the PNRE Pertamina Group. I express gratitude because PGE has successfully obtained this certification," he said.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
