Jakarta, June 14, 2024 - PT Pertamina (Persero) has relaunched the 2024 UMK Academy program, a mentorship and development initiative for micro and small enterprises (MSE) committed to advancing their business. This year, UMK Academy has selected 1,686 micro and small enterprises from over 8,000 applicants to participate at the regional level.
The Pertamina UMK Academy 2024 Regional Scale kick-off was held from June 5-10, 2024, in several cities across Indonesia. With the theme "Providing New Energy towards Advanced MSE," Pertamina UMK Academy 2024 reaffirms its commitment to supporting sustainable MSE development, enabling it to thrive optimally. Ultimately, MSEs can drive economic growth at both regional and national levels.
"We appreciate the enthusiasm of the MSE participants in the Pertamina UMK Academy 2024 program. We hope this annual program will impact MSE business development, helping them to grow and benefit the community and surrounding environment," said the Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso.
Given the high interest from UMKs, Pertamina selected participants through a curation process based on business commitment, products, business prospects, and contributions to society and the environment. Those who pass the regional selection will receive training and mentorship from Pertamina.
Vice President of CSR & SMEPP Management of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, stated that Pertamina UMK Academy targets entrepreneurs who commit to improving quality and expanding their businesses. The training and mentorship facilitated by Pertamina also involve expert trainers, ensuring the program meets its objectives.
Moreover, MSEs can participate in exhibitions at the regional and national levels to broaden their product's reach.
"Pertamina is committed to helping MSEs advance to promote the national economy. We hope MSE participants become more creative, innovative, market-savvy, and adept at utilizing digitalization through our training and mentorship," Fajriyah explained.
After passing the regional selection, selected UMK Academy 2024 participants will proceed to the national selection, which lasts up to four months. The program includes four classes: Go Modern, Go Online, Go Digital, and Go Global.
Participants demonstrating strong commitment can become UMK Academy winners and receive technological equipment grants as recognition.
Ikbal Pratama, from Tuna's Eatery Coffee NTB and a Go Global class champion from UMK Academy 2023, has successfully developed his yellowfin tuna processing business. As a champion, he received equipment grants that boosted his tuna processing production.
This program has enabled Ikbal to introduce his tuna products uniquely to the public, support fishermen's sales, and create job opportunities.
His products, such as Tuna Sambal and Tuna Floss, are now sold in local markets and internationally in Spain, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Poland, and Saudi Arabia.
