March 8, 2023 - Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) supports efforts to accelerate the battery-based electric motorized vehicle ecosystem (KBLBB) development, especially two-wheeled vehicles which are currently the government's focus. The electric motors (molis) mass usage can support the 2060 net zero emission (NZE) target achievement. Pertamina NRE's strategic role in building an electric motorized vehicle ecosystem is carried through participation in the Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC),which runs the battery and molis production industry.
"Pertamina NRE focuses on developing green business and overseeing Pertamina's energy transition. The KBLBB ecosystem is one of our initiatives in the future business pillar. We have collaborated with several parties to build this ecosystem. We believe that with active role from several parties, full support from the government and community, this ecosystem will soon be built," Dannif said.
Pertamina NRE has signed a memorandum of understanding with several corporations to accelerate the KBLBB ecosystem development, with Grab, Gojek, Elektrum, and PertaminaPatra Niaga in preparing the batteries infrastructure exchange and supply. Infrastructure preparation is an important aspect of the electric motorized vehicle ecosystem development. Another aspect is the sufficient molis availability to be accessible for people at affordable prices.
Government policies that plan to provide incentives as assistance to accelerate the energy transition are expected to stimulate public interest in using molis. In addition, support from banks to offer attractive credit facilities for consumers can also be a stimulus.
Another important thing is continuous outreach and education to the community. Dannif added that the community needs education regarding the benefits of molis because, in the long run, it is more economical, especially in maintenance costs. In addition, Molis does not require regular engine oil changes.
Pertamina NRE's initiative in the KBLBB development and other green initiatives is a total commitment to supporting and becoming the government's strategic partner in carrying out the energy transition to realize NZE in 2060. Pertamina NRE continues to implement environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects in managing its business.**
