Jakarta, October 19, 2022 – Pertamina Power Indonesia (Pertamina NRE) and IGNIS and PT Sembcorp Energy Indonesia (Sembcorp Energy Indonesia) signed a joint study agreement (JSA) on Tuesday (18/10) to explore the feasibility of the commercial scale development of clean hydrogen production in Indonesia. The signing ceremony took place at G20 Presidency of Indonesia’s flagship event, State Owned Enterprises International Conference at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center.
The signing was carried out by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pertamina NRE Dannif Danusaputro, Antonio Sieira as CEO of IGNIS Energy Holdings and Jen Tan as the President Director of Sembcorp Energy Indonesia. The signing was witnessed by Deputy Minister of SOE I Pahala N. Mansury and Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and New Ventures of Pertamina A. Salyadi Dariah Saputra.
“We believe that this strategic collaboration will accelerate the development of hydrogen as a renewable energy. This is very crucial for Indonesia in terms of the achievement of energy mix and net zero emission target. And we are very excited to collaborate with IGNIS and Sembcorp Energy Indonesia, two reputable entities in clean energy industry,” said Dannif.
The collaboration between Pertamina NRE, IGNIS and Sembcorp Energy Indonesia is very strategic, because it’s not only provides value for Pertamina NRE, but also for Indonesia to explore renewable energy potential that has not been sufficiently utilized. Indonesia has large renewable energy potential and the feasibility study will evaluate the potential development of clean hydrogen production facilities from renewable energy sources in several locations in Sumatera.
