Dhaka, July 16, 2024 - Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) and Coal Power Generation Company Bangladesh Limited (CPGCBL) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of 500 MW grid-connected solar PV project at Moheshkhali area of Cox’s Bazar or any other suitable/available land in the country. The MoU, which is subject to the results of a feasibility study, also includes the establishment of supporting facilities and lays the groundwork for additional cooperative ventures based on mutually agreed terms and conditions. This MoU signing is the follow up of G2G MoU signed between Indonesia and Bangladesh in 2017.
This MoU marks a significant stride towards enhancing sustainable energy solutions and advancing renewable energy infrastructure in Bangladesh. The MOU was signed by Abul Kalam Azad, Managing Director of CPGCBL, and Fadli Rahman, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Pertamina NRE, in a ceremony held at the Crystal Ballroom, Hotel Intercontinental, on 15th July. The signing was also witnessed by Nelwin Aldriansyah, Chief Financial Officer of Pertamina NRE.

I believe this strategic partnership lays the foundation for a collaboration that will not only enhance our operational capabilities, but also foster growth, innovation, mutual success, as well as will support Bangladesh’s national energy security,” said Nelwin Aldriansyah.

Coal Power Generation Company Bangladesh Limited (CPGCBL), an enterprise of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, was established as a public limited company under the Companies Act 1994 on 5th September 2011. The primary business objective of CPGCBL is to generate electricity. As outlined in its Memorandum of Association, the company is mandated to undertake schemes for constructing power plants under the Private Sector Power Generation Policy of Bangladesh, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy, or any other policy framework of the government.
