Pertamina Patra Niaga Reveals Efforts to Equalize Indonesia's Energy at Hannover Messe 2024
April 24, 2024 - PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Commercial & Trading Subholding, participated in the leading international industrial exhibition, Hannover Messe 2024. Pertamina Patra Niaga showcased efforts to equalize energy from the western to the eastern end of Indonesia.
Nicke Widyawati, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), during a discussion session at the Indonesia Pavilion, outlined Pertamina's role as a state-owned enterprise managing energy in an integrated manner amidst the complexity of the energy ecosystem in Indonesia.
"Pertamina is the only state-owned enterprise developing integrated energy businesses covering upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. Our reach is not only limited to the domestic market; we also have a significant presence abroad. However, our main goal remains to strengthen energy independence and resilience in our country," Nicke emphasized.
Nicke revealed Pertamina's strategy in refinery development amid the global energy transition. She stated that although Pertamina is committed to sustainable business, energy security remains the top priority.
"The refinery development efforts focus on improving efficiency, reducing sulfur and nitrogen content, and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions," she explained.
Riva Siahaan, President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, said that as Pertamina's forefront subholding for the community’s energy needs, Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to strive to fulfill energy needs across Indonesia.
"It is distributed from west to east of Indonesia, and the largest volume of our business is related to transportation fuels. Pertamina Patra Niaga also fulfills the fuel needs for industries," Riva said during a session at Hannover Messe 2024, Tuesday (23/4/2024).
In the industrial exhibition discussing technological advancements, innovation, and global collaboration, Riva explained the company's efforts to provide energy-related understanding to the public. In this regard, Pertamina Patra Niaga collaborated with Ecadin, equipping Pertamina officers as ambassadors to educate the public.
"Furthermore, at Pertamina Patra Niaga, we also engage in activities called the sustainability academy because we are at the forefront of communicating with the public," he said.
Additionally, Riva also discussed Pertamina Patra Niaga's efforts to produce environmentally friendly fuels, Pertamina Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) or Bioavtur. Pertamina and Garuda Indonesia conducted the inaugural commercial flight using SAF last year to reduce emissions and support the Net Zero Emission target achievement.
"With Garuda Indonesia airline, we conducted test flights using SAF," he said.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), conveyed that Pertamina's role as an energy state-owned enterprise is very strategic in serving the community’s energy needs in remote villages.
"Pertamina must manage national energy following the mandate of the law, namely availability, accessibility, affordability, acceptability, and sustainability," Fadjar concluded.
For information, Hannover Messe 2024 took place from April 22 to 26 in Hannover, Germany.
