Jakarta, August 8, 2023 - PT Pertamina (Persero) is set to construct an eco-friendly and advanced energy terminal in Indonesia named Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal. This terminal will be larger and more modern than the Plumpang Oil Fuel Integrated Terminal (TBBM).
The Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal will not only accommodate fuels like LPG, gasoline, diesel, and biodiesel but also designed to handle LNG, CPO, UCO (Used Cooking Oil), and petrochemicals. It is also designed to handle Hydrogen, the demand for which is projected to grow by 2030.
A. Salyadi Saputra, Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development of Pertamina, explained that this terminal will support national energy resilience and will be located in Kalibaru, North Jakarta.
"Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal is designed to be an energy terminal with the highest operational standards in its class, incorporating the latest technology and the best scalability to fulfill the energy needs in the Jabodetabek area," said Salyadi.
Pertamina, according to Salyadi, has entrusted PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), a Sub Holding of Integrated Marine Logistics, which has been focusing on managing strategic energy terminals, to work on and develop the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal.
CEO of PIS, Yoki Firnandi, further explained that the preparations for building the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal are underway, with the initial study for the development concept having been completed.
The Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal is planned to be built in an area developed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) in Kalibaru, North Jakarta. This coastal area spans 64 hectares and is projected to have a storage capacity of up to six million barrels.
In the next phase, PIS, in coordination with Pelindo, will begin conducting a feasibility study for the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal’s construction. The terminal's construction is planned based on the calculation of increasing and diversifying national energy needs over the coming years.
This location is deemed strategic and can serve as the gateway for the energy trading ecosystem through the Singapore-Indonesia corridor, accounting for 30%-35% of global oil and LNG trade.
"This terminal is also a pioneer in incorporating ESG factors and the carbon neutrality concept in its development, from construction to operation. Technologically, the terminal also implements digital systems that make its management more modern and efficient. We will implement the best technology to ensure that the terminal operates with the highest standards, efficiency, safety, reliability, and lower emissions," Yoki concluded.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal’s construction supports the government's Net Zero Emission achievement program. "As one of the green terminals to be built, Pertamina is applying the latest technology with a more modern and efficient digital system while emphasizing sustainability and environmentally friendly (ESG) principles," said Fadjar.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
